Xiaomi Mi5: Rumors about Possible Release Keep Emerging, Redmi Note 2 and Redmi Note 2 Prime Unveiled, More Details

Xiaomi is currently a highly popular Chinese Smartphone manufacturer and it is gradually expanding its markets in India and parts of Asia.  The company keeps surprising us with high-end specs in smartphones which are available at budget prices in these markets.

However, it’s time to Xiaomi to unveil their upcoming Mi5 and people are quite excited about it, especially with the release of OnePlus 2 recently.

The popular Chinese manufacturer launched their Mi4 smartphone in August, which was several weeks before the IFA event in Berlin.  The company could decide to follow the same schedule this year and this is being suggested by various experts and ongoing rumors.

In the meantime, Xiaomi announced that it has sold around 800,000 Redmi Note 2 smartphones in China within a short period of 12 hours which occurred at the flash sale on Sunday. It needs to be known that this is a new sales benchmark for the Chinese company.

In case you don’t remember, the firm managed to secure a Guinness Book of World Records earlier for selling 2.11 million smartphones within a matter of 24 hours, in China. The latest announcement was made by the company via a blog post. According to recent reports, the next flash sale for Redmi Note 2 is secured for 24th August.

Besides their latest MIUI 7 custom ROM based on Android 5.0 Lollipop, Xiaomi launched the Redmi Note 2 and the Redmi Note 2 Prime smartphones. The event was scheduled in Beijing, China.

The Xiaomi Redmi Note 2 features a 5.5inch Full-HD display with a 401ppi pixel density. Under the hood, it has an octa-core MediaTek Helio X10 processor (2GHz quad-core Cortex-A53 + 2GHz quad-core Cortex-A53) coupled with 2GB of RAM.

The handset will be available in two different storage units of 16 and 32GB. It can be further expanded through a microSD card, up to 32GB. The quick charge support with the 3060mAh battery is a great addition as well.

In the camera department, the Xiaomi Redmi Note 2 has a 13MP snapper with phase detection and autofocus and reports suggest that it has a shutter speed of 0.1 second.

The rear camera also has a 5-element lens along with an f/2.2 aperture. There is also a 5 megapixel front camera along with OmniVision.  The Redmi 2 Prime comes with updated specifications which include a faster clocked processor and 32GB of inbuilt storage, and besides that, a 3G variant of the smartphone was also launched.

In Wednesday, Xiaomi will be holding an event in New Delhi and this is going to feature the global unveiling of the Xiaomi MIUI 7 custom-ROM. Meanwhile, we wonder if Xiaomi will be launching the newly released Redmi Note 2 and the Redmi Note 2 Prime due to some restrictions in the country involving MediaTek chipsets.

The Redmi 2 Prime was last launched in India, which is the first smartphone to have a Make in India label. According to Xiaomi, the company is trying to manufacture the smartphones in India in order to cut down the time and cost of creating a smartphone and then making it reach shelves.

In the meantime, a lot has been spoken about the Xiaomi Mi5 lately, ranging from specification rumors to release date predictions and much more. However, nothing has been confirmed as the Chinese smartphone manufacturer remains tight-lipped about the launch and specifications of this device.

Earlier, it was reported that Xiaomi Mi5 might be unveiled in July and finally launch in August. Although this was predicted, especially with the fact that Mi4 completes a year but nothing of that has happened yet. The recent reports also suggest that Xiaomi Mi5 will be launching with a big screen variant named the Mi5 Plus.
