Xiaomi Mi5 is finally out after a long wait and the company has stood by the saying that patience will reward perfection. It has been a long wait for the latest flagship Android phone and while it is not perfect, it is closer than what most other smart phones, in the market, would ever be able to achieve.
The phone is made of metal and glass with a 5.15-inch FullHD display. It is powered by a Qualcomm Snapdragon 820 processor. The phone runs the latest Android Marshmallow. The Xiaomi Mi5 runs on a 3 GB as well as 4 GB RAM.
It has a 3D glass body made of Corning Gorilla Glass 4 with chamfered edges. Xiaomi has been very thoughtful in its design. While it has a complete glass metal outer cover, it has stopped the phone from being slippery.
This has been one of the problems that the users of One Plus devices have been complaining about. Yes, the phone does slip off a gentle slope, but it will not fall off the surface.
There is a gradual curve in the back, which eases the metal frame, while the front is completely flat and smooth. The grip of the phone is exceptional given its design and stays on a surface one keep it on, ensuring a long life.
India Today reported that Xiaomi Mi5 looks like a combination of the Samsung S6 and the iPhone 6. Xiaomi Mi5 has in fact borrowed its design from the Mi Note a phone that was not released worldwide. The only difference between the Mi Note and the Mi5 is that the latter is way cheaper.
The best thing that works for the phone is that it is the lightest phone available in its category. Tech experts have stated that the phone is in fact lighter than the iPhone 6S, Galaxy S7, LG G5, Nexus 5S and One Plus 2 to name a few. The phone is also slim, however, it loses out to the iPhone 6S in this category.
When it comes to design Xiaomi Mi5 is better than most of the other phones, but it has a complete glass and metal outer cover and hence this makes it susceptible to fingerprints and smudges very easily.
Along with its FullHD display the phone has a resolution of 1080 x 1920 pixels, which is almost 428ppi pixel density. Even though the phone doesn’t have the HD resolution like other phones like Galaxy S7, its display wins over everything.
The screen can be really bright and users can make it dim if they so require. The color saturation is excellent and there is adaptive brightness. The viewing angles of the phone are also good. The phone comes with a front finger print sensor.
One of the common issues with smartphones is that it becomes difficult to view the screens outside in sunlight, but this is where the Xiaomi Mi5 comes in with its Sunlight Display feature that increases screen legibility.
The phone also has a smart Reading Mode that reduces background glare by shifting the colors to the warmer end of the spectrum, enabling easy legibility in the night or low light.
Xiaomi Mi5 comes with a 16 MP rear camera with dual tone LED flash, OIS, PDAF and 4K video recording option. The camera lens is a Sony IMX 298. The front camera is a 4 MP with a 2um pixel size. The phone also comes with an amazing battery life.
