The dirt covered warriors from the north are stubborn. They refuse to give up and accept defeat, but that is what Vikings are all about. In Vikings Season 3 we see Ragnar (Travis Fimmel) again lead his warrior tribe to attack and conquer Paris.
Ragnar is smitten by the charm of the city and is determined to have it under his control. Ragnar was informed about the riches and wonderment of Paris by his long dead friend Athelstan (George Blagden). In the 8th episode of Vikings Season 3, we see Ragnar confessing to the spirit of his friend that Paris was everything that he expected and more.
In the 9th episode of the History Channel drama, titled Breaking Point, Ragnar attacks Paris. In the preview of the episode, Floki (Gustaf Skarsgård), Rollo (Clive Standen) and Lagertha (Katheryn Winnick) attack Paris. The pagans from the north will again be faced with a formidable defence, and they will be shown fighting a tough battle.
In the middle of all the action, Floki shouts out to Rollo saying that it is impossible for them to go through and Rollo orders the men to fall back. The armies clash in a narrow alley-way, and it’s claustrophobic to watch even them.
The scene cuts to a drawbridge closing. Rollo fights his way to the drawbridge, which we presume is the only way to escape. The Lothbrok warrior just manages to slip out before the door closes. However, the fate of all the Vikings warriors is not the same, and they are left back at the mercy of the Parisian army.
In this whole sequence, we never see Ragnar or his son Bjorn (Alexander Ludwig), and we can understand that the two may be attacking Paris from another side.
It’s a lesson that viewers learn while watching the show; the lesson that one mustn’t get too attached to a character. It applies to HBO’s Game of Thrones and History Channel’s Vikings. Season 3 of Vikings is again going to shock the viewers with the death of several characters.
