The 33kWh lithium-ion battery in the 2017 BMW i3 is more powerful than the 22kWh battery. The weight might have been increased due to a bigger battery but energy consumption is now 27kWh for every 100 miles. The previous BMW i3 models had a two-cylinder gas tank and the new BMW i3 will have the same.
However, it will have a major enhancement compared to the previous versions. The gas tank has been fully unlocked with a higher EV range. In the earlier models, the last remaining half gallon was locked in order to make sure that BMW i3 still remains a zero-emission vehicle.
The gas tank was increased to a 2.4gallon tank from a 1.9gallon tank. A report revealed that all BMW i3 versions had a 2.4 gallon gas tank but the new 2017 BMW i3 will utilize its full capacity.
With the Level 2 Charger, it will take an hour longer to charge the bigger battery. The total time required to charge the battery is now 4 and half hours. The report indicates that around 80 percent of the battery’s power will be charged within the first forty minutes.
