The 94Ah Battery in the 2017 BMW i3 Starts At $44,595, Reports Indicate That It Will Launch This Fall!

2017 BMW i3 will be getting a very important update this summer. The most important change to be incorporated in this car is the addition of a denser battery pack and it will be rated at 94Ah instead of 60Ah in the previous generation.

As a result, customers will be able to enjoy a longer range with the new BMW i3. People will be freed from their worries involving range anxiety. However, everything comes at a price and this new feature will bump up the price of the 2017 BMW i3 to 44,595 dollars.

This is actually 1200 dollars more than the older version. Some people will immediately notice the price increase but if you look at it closely, it’s a really nice deal.

The updated BMW i3 with a 94Ah battery will provide a range of 114 miles and this is 33 miles more than that of the old model. As you can see, the range has increased by 40% while the price tag increased by simply 3 percent.

The 2017 BMW i3 is one of the best electric cars in the market that is not made by Tesla Motors. A Car and Driver report suggests that the 2017 model will be releasing soon and it will feature a lot of improvements.

This includes a fully unlocked gas tank along with a more powerful battery pack. In terms of performance, the figures remain same besides the increased range of course. The car accelerates to 62mph within a matter of 7.2 seconds, powered by 170HP and 184lb-ft of torque.

The Range Extender version manages to do this in 7.9 seconds but you don’t need to worry about range anymore. However, you need to pay an extra 3850 dollars, which increases the starting price to 48,445 dollars, before any type of tax incentives.

The 33kWh lithium-ion battery in the 2017 BMW i3 is more powerful than the 22kWh battery. The weight might have been increased due to a bigger battery but energy consumption is now 27kWh for every 100 miles. The previous BMW i3 models had a two-cylinder gas tank and the new BMW i3 will have the same.

However, it will have a major enhancement compared to the previous versions. The gas tank has been fully unlocked with a higher EV range. In the earlier models, the last remaining half gallon was locked in order to make sure that BMW i3 still remains a zero-emission vehicle.

The gas tank was increased to a 2.4gallon tank from a 1.9gallon tank. A report revealed that all BMW i3 versions had a 2.4 gallon gas tank but the new 2017 BMW i3 will utilize its full capacity.

With the Level 2 Charger, it will take an hour longer to charge the bigger battery. The total time required to charge the battery is now 4 and half hours. The report indicates that around 80 percent of the battery’s power will be charged within the first forty minutes.
