Pirates of The Caribbean 5: Release Date Preponed, Johnny Depp’s Captain Jack Sparrow to Take a Back Seat to Javier Bardem’s Captain Salazar!

Various rumors regarding the upcoming iteration of Pirates of Caribbean movie have already started doing rounds on the internet. The upcoming installment of Pirates of Caribbean has been titled- Pirates of the Caribbean 5: Dead Men Tell No Tales.

The directors of the movie are Joachim Ronning and Espen Sandberg. Ronning recently took to Instagram to state that the film is currently in its post-production stages. The post saw several comments from fans who requested him to reveal some other details related to the film.

Apparently, the character of Captain Jack Sparrow which is played by Johnny Depp will not be the protagonist of the film. Johnny Depp has played the role of Captain Jack Sparrow in all of the Pirates of the Caribbean films that have been released till date. He has managed to win kudos from both fans and critics for the portrayal of the character in the Pirates films.

Captain Jack Sparrow has remained a frontline character in all of the films of the series till date. However, the latest reports suggest that Depp’s character will take a backseat in the upcoming movie. He will reportedly have lesser amount of screen-time compared to another character- Javier Bardem’s Captain Salazar.

The film was previously scheduled for a July 7, 2017 release. However, the latest post from Ronning revealed that the filmmakers have preponed its release date and now it will hit the big screen on May 26, 2017, that is on Memorial Day.

As for the cast of the movie, Geoffrey Rush, Martin Klebba, Kevin McNally and Brenton Thwaites will be returning to reprise their respective roles of Hector Barbossa, Marty, Joshamee Gibbs and Henry Turner.

Another major character that will be brought back to the franchise with the upcoming movie is Will Turner. This character has been portrayed by renowned actor Orlando Bloom in previous Pirates of the Caribbean movies.

A fresh face will also be introduced to the franchise with Pirates of Caribbean 5. It has been confirmed that Kaya Scodelario will also star in the upcoming movie. However, the characters of Elizabeth Swann and Angelica played by Keira Knightley and Penelope Cruz will not appear in the movie. These two characters have made previous appearances in the franchise.

The storyline of the film will reportedly revolve around the villainous Captain Salazar and a number of dead pirates. Apparently, Captain Salazar and the band of ghost pirates somehow manage to escape from the Devil’s Triangle. Salazar decides to become the leader of this group of undead pirates and they set out on a pirate killing spree on the vast sea.

Captain Jack Sparrow is an arch enemy of Captain Salazar which makes him the primary target of Salazar and his army. To escape from certain death at the hands of Salazar and his ghost pirates, Captain Sparrow will have to hunt down and locate Poseidon’s Trident.

Javier Bardem’s character of Captain Salazar will appear in a ghost form in the movie. It was reported that Salazar is bent on vendetta against Captain Sparrow for the death of his brother. As for Kaya Scodelario, the British actress will reportedly play the role of an astronomer whose name is Carina Smyth.

Johnny Depp recently provided some insights regarding his character Captain Jack Sparrow. He revealed that he was initially not interested in doing the role and had turned it down in a matter of seconds.

However, the actor was reproached with the role by Dick Cook. The American film entertainment executive asked the actor if he had any memories of the Pirates of the Caribbean ride. It made Depp realize that the Pirates of the Caribbean ride was in-fact one of his favorite ones. It was only after this that he finally decided to dawn the role of Jack Sparrow in the Pirates series.
