According to the latest reports from various sources, Michael Bay has already bid goodbye to the Transformers movie franchise. Reports indicate that Bay let go of the reins following the release of Transformers: Age of Extinction. There were also reports suggesting that the director of Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles, Jonathan Liebesman, has been taken into the Transformers movie franchise in order to direct the fifth upcoming movie of this series.
Since Liebesman is a protégé of Michael Bay, the people at Paramount Studios were finally convinced about letting him go. However, it turned out later that Paramount hasn’t let go of Michael Bay as he was ultimately brought in order to help out the company’s writers to concentrate on an expansion of the Transformers cinematic universe.
The main objective of the writers’ room is to come up with new and refreshing ideas for more sequels and stories in the Transformers franchise. According to the latest reports, Paramount is actually asking Michael Bay to have a change of heart and convince him to direct the next movie in the Transformers franchise.
The production company is probably depending on the winning success of the first four movies in the franchise. As a result, they simply want the director of these blockbuster movies to stay where he is. In other news, Jonathan Liebesman won’t be directing Transformers 5 but at the same time, he will direct the spinoff movies based on the successful franchise.
However, Michael Bay hasn’t officially that he’ll be back in the director’s chair for Transformers 5. The present information regarding this issue indicates that mere speculations for now, with no confirmation whatsoever. Meanwhile, other reports indicate that besides Mark Wahlberg, Megan Fox will also be making a comeback to the Transformers franchise.
Megan Fox’s name started floating around after the rumored takeover of the director’s chair by Jonathan Liebesman for the upcoming Transformers 5 movie. Fox and Liebesman both worked together for the Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles reboot last year. Megan Fox was asked for confirmation regarding her return to the franchise, to which she replied that she would be delighted to reprise her role, if her original co-star, Shia LaBeouf also returns to it.
They can’t possibly think that Michael Bay is the only director on the planet capable of directing the films, surely there is someone else who can put a fresh new spin on the series, if they specialise with this director then the series has no hope, what if he has decided to do no more, what will they do then? and how do they think the spin-off films will meet success if they follow this specialisation? Whatever happened to possibilities like David Yates and Louis Letterier? Why not John Favreau or Justin Lin?
