After Kim Kardashian’s Hollywood app racking up more than 100 million dollars since its release in 2014, it is now Nicki Minaj on the block with Nicki Minaj: The Empire, her new mobile game.
Minaj, one of the most successful rappers of her time, has teamed up with the same group behind Kim Kardashian: Hollywood, Glu Mobile, who had also had games with Katy Perry and Taylor Swift.
In the preview released, she narrates that the fans can create their songs and videos, meet people and host parties, visit and perform at the best nightclubs and music venues, have the most fashionable ware at their disposal, and everything can be customized at any moment.
In other words, Queen Barbz is going to offer us the chance to be a superstar like her – at least in the virtual world, if not in reality. It also means that the superstar is looking forward to stashing a hefty amount of cash into her pockets.
While in the preview she says that the link for the download is available below, there is no link available. In all probability, the game will be launched very soon.
So while we wait for this product to hit the markets, we can spend our time listening to (if you haven’t already) the new single released by DJ Khaled on 28th July, ‘Do You Mind’, featuring Nicki Minaj, Rick Ross, August Alsina, Jeremih, Chris Brown and Future.
Minaj is the first artist in the song, starting off with her characteristic bang, before Brown and Jeremih coming in with the chorus. ‘Do You Mind’ is the 7th track of DJ Khaled’s 9th studio album Major key which released at the zero hours of 29th July.
This is not the first time in recent months that Minaj has sent fans buzzing in the professional front. Soon before the release of this song she had been registering the names of some tracks; something artists do before their release to enable them to get royalties out of them.
This is exciting since she has not released an album since The Pinkprint back in December 2014, which had received a comparatively lukewarm response, peaking at the second spot in the US, while remaining at 22nd in the UK.
This disappointment apparently sent Minaj into a phase of introspection. She told her fans earlier this year that she was not going to simply jump into the fray with any new album. She wanted to enjoy her life and get things stable before starting to write again.
But her recent activities may as well put the lights on. In addition to featuring in Bebe Rexha’s ‘No Broken Hearts’, she had been in DJ Mustard’s new ‘Don’t hurt me’. The DJ had worked intensively with Meek Mill, Nicki’s boyfriend, who apparently has a lot of stake in the project.
Then there is the DJ Khaled track. With the registered tracks appear the names of people like Curtis Bedeau, Henry A. Humes, and of course Janet Jackson. Enough to get grooving? Sure!
Speaking of Meek Mill, the rapper, whom she had been dating since early 2015, was spotted spending $20,000 in cash on strippers in the ACES Strip club in Queens, New York, in what was hopefully a boys’ night out as he had only Travis Scott and NBA star James Harden with him.
On the other hand, her ex-boyfriend Safari Samuels is in VH1’s Love & Hip-Hop Hollywood Season 3. Alongside him are biggies like Fetty Wap, Ray J and Masika Kalysha. As is his supposed new girlfriend, Nikki Mudarris.
Seemingly, the past is set to haunt Minaj for the immediate future at least, because in addition to Samuels’ antics, there is Mariah Carey reigniting her old feud in what is most likely a publicity stunt for Carey’s new reality TV series ‘Mariah’s World’.
