Fans have already started speculating whether the actor is hinting towards the fact that there won’t be a fourth iteration of Iron Man. Looks like they will have to wait until Marvel Studios come forward with some sort of concrete news regarding the matter.
As for Captain America: Civil War, the movie will see Downey Jr.’s Iron Man at loggerheads with Chris Evans’ Captain America. Both these men will spearhead two different groups of superheroes that will go to war with each other.
Downey Jr.’s Iron Man and his group of superheroes will likely be some sort of antagonists in the upcoming movie. However, Downey Jr. himself stated that he will not be turning into a full-on villain in the upcoming movie.
Rumors have it that the film will have a runtime of 2 hours and 26 minutes. If it turns out to be true, then Captain America: Civil War will be the longest running film from the Marvel Studios banner. The film has been touted as the Godfather of superhero movies by Robert Downey Jr. It is scheduled to hit the big screen on May 5, 2016.
Stay tuned for more update on Iron Man 4.
RDJ is Iron Man. If the story is passing the mantle that’s one thing, but nobody will ever replace the character RDJ brought to life. I personally think the actor’s age is irreverent given the fact that Iron Man is a suit. After all in the first film Jeff Bridges suited up for the big showdown and he wasn’t exactly a spring chicken in years. I think an older RDJ suiting up one last time would be totally believable. Then if the film showed him passing on the suit it would be a bittersweet but acceptable change over, but the end of the true Iron Man in a sense. I hope the film makers realize that trying to relaunch Iron Man with a new actor in the suit will never live up to the RDJ version.
