In the consequent years it was seen that Thor: The Dark World, Captain America: The Winter Soldier and Guardians of the Galaxy have gone ahead to do unprecedented business and have made the Marvel brand name more popular. In such a situation, Marvel doesn’t require Iron Man 4.
There is another reason as to why Marvel isn’t keen on going forward for Iron Man 4. Robert Downey Jr. has become synonymous with the role of the Iron Man and Marvel knows that a standalone Iron Man movie without him in it will not do well in the market.
However, they cannot change the contract that they have with Robert Downey Jr. since he is a very expensive actor to have on board. Forbes had reported that Robert Downey Jr. increases his fees with every new film that he features in and Marvel will not be able to afford him if they decide to go for Iron Man 4.
While this news has disappointed the fans of the quirky and charismatic billionaire/ superhero, they know that Robert Downey Jr. is going to be back on the big screen to reprise his role of Iron Man. He might not be back for his own film, but will be featured as part of the Avengers in both Captain America: Civil War and Avengers: infinity War Part 2.
