The rumor mill has been abuzz for quite some time now regarding the possible release date of the latest offering from the GoPro stable- the GoPro Hero 5.
Early rumors suggesting that the camera might finally be released by 2016 are starting to take a credible form as GoPro has started offering heavy discounts on the existing GoPro cameras in the market.
The GoPro Hero session has just got another major reduction in its price just ahead of the holiday season. The Hero 4 Session which came with an original price tag of $399 had earlier seen a price drop when its price was reduced to $300 back in September. GoPro decided to reduce its price further to $200 with the aim of boosting its sales during the holiday season.
Another reason behind this price drop could be that the company is trying to clear out the existing stock of the Hero 4 Session from the market before they finally introduce the GoPro Hero 5 in it.
The GoPro Hero 5 was originally expected to hit the market in the month of October of the current year, however due to certain reasons the launch date of the device was pushed back to 2016 by the developers.
It was reported that company took this step to ensure that they get more time to further polish the device and make it a worthy successor of the GoPro Hero 4.
The reduction in the price of the Hero 4 Session could be related to the company’s failure to meet their sales goals for the ongoing year.
The company is currently incurring losses and thus they might have brought in the price cut of the Hero 4 Session hoping that a drop in its price just before the holiday season will attract consumers who might purchase the camera for vacations and tours.
The company has not been able to deliver the GoPro Hero 5 in the current year and this has shaken the confidence of shareholders on the company and this is reflected by the company’s current standing in the stock market.
There has been a considerable dip in the price of shares of the company and experts believe that it is definitely a worrying matter for the company.
The GoPro Hero 5 is expected to come packed with impressive features and specifications. Various rumors are suggesting that the camera might have the capability to shoot 8K resolution videos.
The device will be much more compact than its predecessor, the GoPro Hero 4. It will reportedly be 50 percent smaller in size and 40 percent lighter in weight than the previous iteration of GoPro camera.
Reduction in size and weight will make the device much more portable and easier to carry around. It will especially be beneficial for people who are into action-adventure sports.
The Hero 4 came with a waterproofing capability for up to a depth of 20 meters underwater.
A renowned website reported that the waterproofing capability of the Hero 5 will get a major overhaul as the depth till which the device will function normally underwater has been increased to 60 meters, which is definitely a significant improvement when compared to its predecessor.
The dive housing feature of the device will make sure that the device does not get lost while diving underwater.
The Hero 5 will come equipped with a dual-lens setup which will be able to capture 3D images and motion.
The 8K resolution video capture could turn out to be a negative point for the device. The high-quality 8K videos that the camera will churn out will require computers with quite high-end processors to play them which may not always be accessible to common users.
