The Fast and Furious movie franchise has been one of the most popular franchises that Hollywood has ever seen. The last installment in this franchise, Fast and Furious 7 made its appearance two years back.
This particular installment came with an emotional attachment as one of the major members of the cast- renowned Hollywood actor Paul Walker passed away in a car accident before the completion of shooting of the movie.
The film was dedicated to Paul Walker and a computer generated image of the late actor was used for the purpose of filming the movie. His younger brother, Cody Walker was also used in some aspects of the shoot.Paul Walker was paid an emotional tribute at the end of the movie which touched the hearts of millions of viewers across the globe.
Fast forward to Fast and Furious 8, various rumors are suggesting that Paul Walker’s character, Brain O’ Connor might feature in the film via computer generated image. Ron Meyer, the Vice Chairman, NBC Universal was asked by fans to shed some light on the matter.
His reply raised more questions than it answered. He stated that he will not be able to confirm at the moment whether Walker’s character would make an appearance in the film.
However, at the same time he pointed out that he would be represented in some form within the movie. That being said, he added that unlike Fast and Furious 7, he won’t be present in Fast and Furious 8 as an actor.
Some of the other cast members who are confirmed for the movie include- Vin Diesel, Dwayne Johnson, Tyrese Gibson, Michelle Rodriguez and Ludacris. It was also being rumored that Helen Mirren and popular Bollywood actress Deepika Padukone might also make an appearance in the movie.
However, fans should take note that these rumors are yet to be confirmed by any official source. Straight Outta Crompton famed F. Gray Gray is going to helm the director’s chair for the film.
Jason Statham who dawned the character of Deckard Shaw in Fast and Furious 7 will reportedly be back to reprise his character in the upcoming film. The character of Deckard Shaw was the main antagonist of the last edition of Fast and Furious movie.
It has already been confirmed that the film is set to hit the big screen in April 2017 and its first poster was just revealed by Vin Diesel via Instagram. The poster shows a shot of New York City skyline with the Empire State Building in the backdrop. It also shows the tagline for the movie which is “New Roads Ahead”.
It can be easily assumed from the poster that a considerable amount of the movie will be shot in the New York City. Vin Diesel also gave confirmation to the fact that the eighth installment of Fast and Furious movie will be called Fast 8.
A renowned website reported that some parts of the film might be shot in Cuba. Apparently, Universal Pictures is seeking permission from the governments of both United States and Cuba to film some aspects of the movie in the previously embargoed nation.
The director of the movie, F. Gary Gray recently ventured on a scouting trip to finalize locations for the shooting of the upcoming movie. The Cuban nation was reportedly one of the destinations that he visited during his trip. If indeed the movie is shot in Cuba, it will be the first Hollywood film to be shot in the Cuban nation since the 1960, during which time the embargo was set on it.
