George R.R Martin’s sixth book in the fantasy novel series ‘A Song of Ice and Fire’ is yet to get a release date but it has been enjoying its place in the rumor mill, ever since 2014. According to the initial speculations, the book would have been released before Game of Thrones Season 6 in the spring of 2015.
The TV adaptation with its five seasons has been mostly based on the first five books of ‘A Song of Ice and Fire’. The fifth book released right after Season 1 of Game of Thrones.
It was named ‘A Dance with Dragons’ and it released on 2011, immediately after Game of Thrones Season 1. It secured its place on the bookshelves on October 2012, which took place immediately after Season 2 of the popular HBO TV Series.
Therefore, Game of Thrones fans enjoyed a lot of interesting spoilers from GRRM’s books. According to the latest conditions, it seems like the TV Series has caught up with the sixth book. Martin has described this situation to be similar to a giant locomotive bearing down on him and putting more pressure on him to release it soon.
The initial rumors suggested that Winds of Winter would be released anytime from October last year to March this year, right before the premiere of Game of Thrones Season 6 on TV. Later it was changed to April 2016 which would be just around the time when Game of Thrones gets back on TV.
According to rumors which began with the start of this New Year, Winds of Winter will no longer be coming out before the Season 6 premiere of “Game of Thrones”. More annoyingly, reports indicate that it will not even come out after the end of the sixth season on TV. Therefore, the book will come out in 2017.
According to a private source to George R.R Martin, the author never revealed whether this book will be coming out this year or the next. All he said was that he is a slow writer and that he is having a lot of trouble while meeting deadlines.
The author declared that while writing a book, he has many chapters to complete and lots of stories to tell. There was an average of 1150 pages in his last two books and the case will be similar when it comes to Winds of Winter.
He had to write a major volume of manuscripts and it was projected way back in 2014 that The Winds of Winter will be released in 2017 while the last book in the series, A Dream of Spring would be released in 2023. The author was at fault here since he allowed the speculations to run freely since he did not wish to declare that the book will have a 2017 release.
However, by then, it will no longer matter to fans and viewers as they will have lost their source of major spoilers for Game of Thrones Season 6. Earlier, in his blog post, GRRM revealed that Winds of Winter will be released as it was planned earlier, before the premiere of GOT Season 6.
Sadly, October, November, they came and went and Winds of Winter is yet to be released. The author soon realized that his book won’t make it before the Season 6 premiere. The author also admitted that the TV series moved much faster than he had earlier anticipated.
Therefore, fans and readers of A Song of Ice and Fire will reach the end of this novel series on TV, with writers David Benioff and D.B Weiss.
Not even close. Not even CLOSE. This book better be out this year. Like, 2017??? What the hell? I don’t have time to wait. I want my 83 year old grandpa who is a huge fan to be alive when the series finishes, and although I still have hope, GRRM needs to get this stuff out. I was cool with waiting till 2014, then I was cool with 2015. I gotta admit, I was slightly disappointed about 2016. This guy needs to get done once and for all. Winter may never come.
