With the Wall not there to protect the realm against The Others, there is impending doom in the shape of the Long Nights that are about to set in. There are theories that Daenerys Targaryen and her dragons will try to protect Westeros from the White Walkers or at least fall dead trying to do so.
Martin has, however, negated a possibility of an unhappy ending, repeatedly telling fans that the ending that he is intending will be a bittersweet one on the same lines as The Lord of the Rings.
Jack Bender, who is the director of HBO’s Game of Thrones had replied positively when asked by a fan if he had read George R. R Martin’s sixth novel while interacting with his fans on AMA Reddit.
This comment of his created a huge buzz where fans believed that Martin is done with his work and is now set to only announce the book’s launch on a chosen occasion. However, Martin only told the fans to not believe everything that they read and hear on the internet.
He said that he would come out and informs them himself when he is done with the book and fans sure hope that it happens soon.
