Gisla feels that Rollo isn’t completely loyal to Frankia and asks him what is more precious to him and whether he is ready to defend Paris to death. Rollo is unable to convince Gisla that he had killed all the Vikings in Paris because he felt that it was the right thing to do and not because that is what would have been expected from him.
Unable to make her believe in his loyalty, Rollo gives up his Vikings arm ring to Gisla. For a Viking, an arm ring is a matter of pride and Viking prestige and they are given one when they are six or seven years of age to mark their allegiance to the earl. Rollo gives it up to prove that he doesn’t consider the Vikings to be an important part of his life.
With Ragnar being killed, the reign will go to Bjorn, who has gone out in the woods to prove his mettle. He fights off a bear in an earlier episode and right when he is about to return home, he confronts Kalf (Ben Robson) who has been sent to assassinate Bjorn. Bjorn, however, comes victorious in the fight that follows.
