Amidst various rumors regarding the upcoming iteration of Fast and Furious movie, it has just been confirmed that a considerable part of the movie will be shot in Iceland. The latest reports suggest that the production unit has already started preparing for the shoot to being in the Mývatn area of North Iceland.
A number of vehicles and military-grade machines that are to be used in the film were spotted in the above-mentioned place. The shooting period of the film will last for around two months. The filming is expected to begin soon.
For the last released film of the series which was Fast and Furious 7, Subaru donated seven Impreza units to the production unit. The cars were used in the film and it was reported that some of those cars might make an appearance in the upcoming film too.
Apart from the Imprezas, the film will also feature a number of other vehicles like Rally Fighters and Lamborghini Murcielagos. It is a known fact that the lead character of the film, that is Vin Diesel’s Dominic Toretto loves American muscle cars and thus fans can expect to see a number of those too in the upcoming film.
A number of custom built ATVs, heavily armored trucks from the house of Dodge and also some military vehicles were also spotted at the location where the shooting of the film will take place. Thus, it can be safely stated that these vehicles will also make an appearance in Fast and Furious 8.
It was previously reported that the production unit will create a giant explosion as a part of the shooting in Iceland. This explosion will reportedly be the largest man-made explosion that has been ever filmed in the country.
As for the cast of the movie, rumors are abuzz that mad Max: Fury Road famed Charlize Theron will play the role of a villain in Fast and Furious 8. Various reports also suggest that Jason Statham will reprise his role of Deckard Shaw for the movie.
Deckard Shaw was the antagonist of the last movie that is Fast and Furious 7. The character was played by Jason Statham in the movie. Deckard Shaw is the brother of the villain of the sixth film- Owen Shaw, played by Luke Evans.
At the end of the Fast 7, fans saw Deckard Shaw being put into solitary confinement at a maximum security prison. If indeed this character shows up in the upcoming movie, it will mean that he had managed to escape from the prison somehow. It will be interesting to see how the filmmakers put together the story of his return in Fast and Furious 8.
Certain rumors are also doing rounds on the internet that the character that will be played by Charlize Theron will somehow be connected to Jason Statham’s Deckard Shaw. However, it should be noted that there has been no official confirmation regarding these matters as of yet.
Another bizarre rumor that was floating around the internet suggested that Justin Bieber might be roped in as the late Paul Walker’s replacement. However, this rumor was promptly shot down by the Vice Chairman of NBC Universal- Ron Meyer.
Renowned model Cara Delevingne is also rumored to be part of the upcoming movie. Cara Delevingne is the former lover of Michelle Rodriguez who plays the character of Letty Ortiz in the Fast and Furious series. Fans started speculating as to how Rodriguez might react if indeed Cara Delevingne is included in the cast of the film.
