A brand new trailer for Super Smash Bros 4 made its appearance recently at the special broadcast of Nintendo Direct. Super Smash Bros 4 is the collective name given to the fighting video games Super Smash Bros for WII U and Super Smash Bros for Nintendo 3DS.
Nintendo, the publishers of the game has made some recent announcements that have got the fans going in a good way. The trailer launched at the broadcast of Nintendo Direct revealed that the game is set to receive a brand new playable character along with some other updates.
It turns out that the new character to be added to the game is Cloud Strife. Cloud is the lead character of the popular PS1 role-playing game Final Fantasy VII. This character has also made appearances in some other games like Crisis Core: Final Fantasy VII, Chocobo Racing, Ehrgeiz: God Bless the Ring, Dirge of Cerberus: Final Fantasy VII, Kingdom Hearts and Dissidia.
The animation movie Final Fantasy VII: Advent Children also stars Cloud Strife in it.
The video portrays some of the cool moves that Cloud will be able to use in the game and also shows off some of his in-game abilities. Some of his skills shown in the video include the limit break and the Odin summon. An alternate costume for Cloud is also coming with the Cloud Strife DLC which is straight out of the Final Fantasy VII: Advent Children movie.
A fight scene featuring Cloud, shown in the trailer takes place in a city which looks similar to the City of Midgar. The City of Midgar was one of the locations in the Final Fantasy VII game which featured Cloud in a lead role. This could be a clear indication that a City of Midgar stage is headed towards fans through the DLC.
In the current year, four new playable characters have been added to the game till date via DLCs. April 2015 saw the release of Mewtwo while, Lucas from Mother 3, Roy from Fire Emblem and Ryu from Street Fighter were made available in the month of June.
The news of inclusion of Cloud in the game’s roster has definitely worked up fans and increased their excitement level to a new high. However, no specific details regarding the character’s release date or the price tag with which it will come has been announced yet by Nintendo.
It was reported in a renowned website that the company’s decision to include Cloud in Super Smash Bros 4 has surprised some fans as it will be the first time that a Final Fantasy character is set to make an appearance in a Nintendo game.

Keeping the content of the previous episodes in mind, players can expect revelations about other new characters that may be added to the game in future. The results for the online fan ballot are yet to be announced by Nintendo and it is being speculated that the announcement will be made at the December broadcast.
