Steven Seagal is an action star and also a martial arts expert in real life. According to the latest casting rumors, he will be joining the upcoming Expendables 4 team. As of now, he is the latest actor rumored to be joining this franchise with the Expendables 4 movie.
The movie will feature top action stars in Hollywood, which includes Sylvester Stallone, Jason Statham, Arnold Schwarzenegger and many more. People who have already joined the casting rumor mill for Expendables 4 are Stone Cold Steve Austin, John Cusack, and Jackie Chan, Filipino boxing icon Manny Pacquiao, Dwayne The Rock Johnson and Hulk Hogan. The speculations involving Manny and Jackie Chan have been proved to be inaccurate.
Rumors involving the addition of new cast members like the old James Bond, John Cusack and Steven Seagal, all sound legitimate but producers of Expendables 4 need to confirm any such rumors. However, some details pertaining to Expendables 4 have already been confirmed. Firstly, it will release on 2017.
This movie will be filmed in China since a major portion of this movie will be financed by a Chinese interest. Yibada noted that Randy Couture tweeted last March about Expendables 4 filming,to begin during the coming Fall.
Expendables 4 lacks a lot of details since the film’s main star and executive producer Sylvester Stallone, has been caught up between this movie and the upcoming Creed sequel. Terry Crews further mentioned that the reason why this movie is not making any progress is due to Sly’s attention being totally focused on the sequel for Creed.
Creed was an indirect sequel to the famous and extremely popular Rocky franchise. It performed decently in the box office and achieved critical acclaim. Crews further mentioned that Sly is busy with a lot of other options.
According to him, Sly should think about his next move and what he really wants to do. ‘Expendables 3’ was the latest film in this blockbuster franchise and it managed an international box office record with $206,172, 544. Out of this, 39.3 million came from US domestic sales while US $169.8million, was received from international ticket sales.
Patrick Hughes was the director of this film. The film included popular action stars like Kellan Lutz, Antonio Banderas, Jason Statham, Jet Li and Ronda Rousey. It earned a mere $206 million from a $90 million budget. There were few reasons responsible for the decline in numbers. Firstly, its rating was reduced to PG 13 from an R.
The first two movies in this franchise came with an R rating and some of the audiences were not pleased about the reduced blood, gore and action. Moreover, weeks before the movie was supposed to release, it was already pirated and leaked out. This impacted the franchise with a major blow, causing a decrease in box office earnings, as a direct result.
It is expected that the upcoming Expendables 4 will release on 2017. As mentioned before, it will start filming this year.
According to the latest rumors, the actor, writer, director and main star of The Expendables franchise, Sylvester Stallone will not be joining the cast in the fourth installment.
Keep in mind that it is a mere speculation at this point, especially considering Terry Crews’ Twitter post. However, Sly has every right to focus on Creed since he earned a lot of awards and nominations for being the Best Supporting Actor while reprising his role as the Italian stallion, Rocky Balboa.
