Star Wars: Episode VIII is an upcoming American epic space opera film that will be directed. Rian Johnson. Rian Johnson is also the writer of the film. It will be the second addition to the Star Wars trilogy which was kicked off by Star Wars: The Force Awakens.
It was seen that Star Wars: The Force Awakens featured the death of the character of Han Solo. Latest rumors related to Star Wars: Episode VIII suggest that the filmmakers could portray his funeral in the film.
Apparently, a leaked image from the film’s set in Dubrovnik has shown a planet which was not seen before. It was reported that Han Solo’s funeral is supposed to take place on this very planet. Fans could be witnessing a middle-of-the- ocean funeral for the character as a number of cast members were seen wearing costumes and filming for the said sequence in the ocean.
Han Solo has been one of the most popular characters of the Star Wars franchise. Naturally, his demise in the last film became a reason of disappointment for a number of fans. However, Harrison Ford had earlier stated that he wanted the character to die.
He further added- ‘I’ve been arguing for Han Solo to die for about 30 years, not because I was tired of him or because he’s boring, but his sacrifice for the other characters would lend gravitas and emotional weight.’
The latest reports suggest that the character will re-appear in a Star Wars spin-off movie. However, it will be a younger version of Han Solo and the filmmakers have already made a list of actors who might be roped in to play the role. The list includes the names of- Jack Reynor, Taron Egerton and Alden Ehrenreich.
Coming back to the matter of Episode VIII, it was previously confirmed that Jurassic Park famed Laura Dern will be making an appearance in the film. Her addition to the cast of the film came as a surprise to many a fan and they were left wondering about her role in the movie.
The latest reports suggest that she might be portraying a character which will have close association to the likes of Rey, Leia and Luke Skywalker. Chances are that she might be a part of the Resistance group and will be a senior officer within it. Details regarding the rank that her character will hold within the group is still unclear at the moment.
A number of theories regarding her character have already started doing rounds on the internet. A prominent one amongst them is that she would have close alliance with General Leia in the film. Another theory suggests that the character that Dern will be portraying in the movie will actually be the mother of Rey.
Reports also suggest that she might be playing the role of the commanding officer of Resistance in the film. General Leia will reportedly get injured in the episode and thus Dern’s character will be called in as her replacement. Dern’s character will be seen raising her voice against the regulatory system that has been introduced by General Leia.
Fans are familiar with the character of General Leia as someone who fights for the rights of everyone. Rumors suggest that Dern’s character will not be so generous when it comes to people’s rights.
It was also revealed that she will share a negative relationship with another character of the film- Poe Dameron. The film will reportedly feature a scene where a number of Resistance fighters headed by Poe Dameron will be seen forcefully taking over her ship.
