Rogue One: Star Wars Story Release Date, Trailer Gives a Lot of Clues About the Movie’s Plot Points, Han Solo Will Not Be in the Spin-off

After what feels like an eternity, Rogue One, which is a Star Wars spin-off is nearing its release in December the 16th 2016. Disney is taking advantage of this and feeding this speculative frenzy of fans by releasing an exponentially growing number of trailers and clips.

The latest of such clips to have surfaced is the film’s International Trailer. Although the trailer doesn’t provide much new footage to fans, it does shed some light regarding the story of the plot.

The major revelation comes early in the clip, when the character played by Felicity Jones, Jyn Erso, is told by Cassian Andor played by Diego Luna, that a message has been intercepted, which is a coded Imperial transmission indicating that a major weapons test is imminent.

Following that is a line unheard in the domestic trailer that debuted last Thursday night, informing Jyn Erso that the message is from her father, Galen Also. Enthusiasts who are following the Star Wars coverage must be aware that Mads Mikkelsen, who plays GalenErso, Jyn’s father; is thought to be playing both sides. Whether he is a Rebel spy or an Empire-worker turned good is yet to be revealed.

The spin-off, Rogue One a Star Wars Story, also features actors such as Donnie Yen, Forest Whitaker, Diego Luna, and Alan Tudyk. The story of the film takes place just before the events of 1977’s Star Wars: Episode IV; A New Hope.

Apart from that, another thing that has the fans buzzing after the release of the International Trailer is the brief appearance by Darth Vader. The parent company of ABC News, Disney, seems pretty excited about the movie’s December release, judging from their attempts to keep the fans intrigued by the periodic release of trailers with nuggets of information.

In a recent report, THE WEEK teasingly informed its readers about the appearance of Darth Vader by saying that Darth Vader is back on the screens. As opposed to his front, meaning; that one of the highlights of the new trailer was a rear view of the Sith Lord, for this individual Star Wars Movie, Rogue One.

On the 11th of August, the spine-chilling short promo of Star Wars: Rogue One, was shown on US TV during the Olympics. The movie which is coming to the theatres in December has suffered a few setbacks that had to be remedied by re-shoots and a new editor. The movie is directed by Briton Gareth Edwards, who was also the director of the 2014 release, Godzilla reboot.

It was confirmed recently by Gareth Edwards that Han Solo will not be making an appearance in the movie. However, according to fanbase rumors, a young Solo played by Alden Ehrenreich might have had a small cameo in the film.

In response to which, Edwards had told Extra TV that he was not sure if he was allowed to do such an appearance. He said that he thinks he should. In fact, after the young actor was seen at last month’s Star Wars Celebrations, it was taken for granted that the actor shall be seen in the movie.

Which in retrospect turns out to have just been a photo opportunity for the 26-year-old actor.

A few months ago, a very perplexing behind-the-scenes image was released to EW, showing a death trooper holding what is unmistakably a stormtrooper doll. This raised the question that, has Star Wars merchandise become so important that it has now seeped its way into the fictional universe as well?

To that, the Star Wars News Net, having an abundance of behind-the-scenes images at its disposal, has come up with an explanation. It maintains that the image seen is in all probability a part of a flashback scene.
