Reports of New 24K Gold-Plated Samsung Galaxy Note 5 Variant with a Brief Review of the Original Device, And More

Do you wish to show your friends or that pesky no-good neighbor how extravagant and luxurious you are? Well, your search is over as a shining new gold-plated variant of the Samsung Galaxy Note 5 has been released in the United States and retailer eBay has listed it as well.

The buyers who are interested can order the 24 K gold-plated Samsung Galaxy Notes 5 from eBay at a price of $1450. The device is being sold by a Vietnamese-based manufacturer named Karalux and this company enjoys a history of releasing various gold-plated variants of different Samsung devices in the past.

This includes the Galaxy S6 as well as the Galaxy S6 Edge according to Phone Arena. The report further states that the outer-frame of this device is made up of the prominent Aluminum 7000 series, which is presently one of the toughest and most durable alloys available for the purposes of making devices. This material is around 60% lighter and stronger than stainless steel.

The metal parts of the device go through a complicated process after which the first base is laid and then it is gold-plated followed by the addition of a protective layer on top. It is now being speculated that Apple will be using the same material in their upcoming Apple iPhone 6S and 6S Plus devices.

Beside the 24K gold plated features, this device shares the same specifications and hardware of the originally released Samsung Galaxy Note 5. It has a 5.7inch Super AMOLED display with 1440×2560 pixel resolution and this result in a pixel density of 518ppi. The smartphone packs a powerful Octa-Core Samsung Exynos 7420 processor under the hood and this SoC is backed by 4GB of RAM.

The device further runs on Android Lollipop 5.1.1 and it is being expected to receive a planned upgrade to Marshmallow OS. In terms of storage capacity, the Galaxy Note 5 is available in 32GB and 64GB variants but doesn’t include a microSD card slot. In terms of camera specification, the device comes features a 16megapixel rear camera along with a 5megapixel front camera.

The Karalux Company has released gilded versions of various Samsung devices in the past and from the looks of it, they wish to keep continuing the trend with the gold-plated Samsung Galaxy S6 Edge and the Note 5. Official reports declare that the gold-plating process costs VND 8 million and the entire device should cost $25million.

In the meantime, let’s go through a brief review of the original device. Firstly, the fifth generation of the Samsung Galaxy Note 5 doesn’t have a single trace of novelty left in it. It is actually an excellent device with a great robust build and offers the best display and hardcore performance ever seen on any smartphone. Size is no longer a priority for the Galaxy Note and the S-Pen is the only signature feature in the latest Note.

The Galaxy Note 5 is a significantly different device with its active stylus input and more so because this hasn’t been copied by any other device in the market. The device looks like a superlative combination of the present-day smartphones and the PDAs from a decade ago. The S-Pen has a faux metal build this year with a high end look but is still made of plastic.

However, the new S-Pen in the Galaxy Note 5 feels great thanks to its same 2048 levels of pressure sensitivity from the Note 4. With a harder tip, the new pen feels great to write with. The entire phone has premium aluminum and glass design which looks really sharp like it did on the S6.
