Chine micro-blogging website Weibo has come to our rescue with a lot more details regarding the upcoming iPhones. According to it, Apple has planned to provide the aspirational iPhone 7 users with a major upgrade.
The device will feature a bigger battery but on the other hand, the latest reports indicate that the upcoming iPhone will be devoid of a headphone jack. From the looks of it, Weibo has come up with photos from the factory floor and it shows us the battery of the iPhone 7 and the iPhone 7 Plus. The codes further revealed that the phones will receive a 1735mAh and 2850mAh battery capacities respectively.
This is a small increase from the 1715mAh battery in the iPhone 6S and the 2750mAh battery in the iPhone 6S Plus. This is still a notable step-down from the older iPhone 6 and iPhone 6 plus with 1810mAh and 2950mAh batteries respectively.
Now, in the meantime, should we believe all these rumors? It is quite impossible to tell at the moment but it would certainly appear rather odd considering that rumors should be based on such a modest and underwhelming spec bump.
This further indicates that the iPhone 7 will have battery life which is not at all superior when compared to its predecessors. There is a lot depending on the efficiency of the Apple A10 chip. The removal of the headphone jack will mean that that Lightning Port needs to power any kind of headphones without their individual battery pack.
This could end up being another source of power drain for the upcoming iPhone. Therefore, it might sound like a small win with a modest upgrade but at the same time, it could end up being the problem. This is in fact starting to become somewhat of a theme for the iPhone 7.
