Samsung will release their Galaxy S7 and according to 9to5 Google, it will be a heck of a smartphone. When you take a look at the specs, it quickly reminds you that you will be dealing with a ‘metal-and-glass-sandwich’ which will be powered by Samsung’s latest system on-a-chip, the Snapdragon 820 or one of the latest proprietary iterations of Samsung’s own Exynos chips.
Further speculations suggest that the device will be powered by 4GB of RAM along with 32GB of internal storage, the microSD card slot will return. Meanwhile, the QHD AMOLED display will feature an ‘Always On’ mode. The Galaxy S7 further sports a 12MP camera, an improved fingerprint scanner along with a 3000mAh battery, 3600mAh on the Edge Model.
Meanwhile, Tech Insider revealed that those who pre-order the Samsung Galaxy S7 will receive a special gift as well. “You’ll get a free Gear VR headset if you pre-order the Samsung Galaxy S7 or S7 Edge…The Gear VR is a virtual reality (VR) headset that uses Samsung’s latest flagship devices, including the Galaxy S6, S6 Edge, S6 Edge+, and Note 5, to play VR content.”
Till now, we are not sure whether Samsung will make an updated Gear VR for the Samsung Galaxy S7 or whether Samsung’s newly released smartphone will be compatible with the Gear VR version that was released back in December.
It sounds like an excellent deal even though the Gear VR suffers from some issues. Wearable gave 4 stars to Samsung’s latest wearable device and in spite of some issues, the Gear VR has managed to garner a general positive response.
“It’s immersive, sure, and that’s the buzzword but you won’t just be immersed in the images and audio, you’ll feel like you’re really there. If you find yourself at the edge of a rock in Gear VR game Land’s End, you’ll get a bit of vertigo, it’s that powerful. In short, it’s magic.” Meanwhile, according to other reviewers, the Gear VR definitely possesses a cool factor.
However, it still suffers from the screen door effect because of the low resolution of the smartphone screens which are used with it. Due to the absence of motion tracking, some have complained that the device makes them dizzy. Another problem is that the lenses tend to fog up easily. On the other hand, there is more good news for Galaxy S7 and Gear VR enthusiasts.
A virtual reality 360 camera will be released by Samsung to be used with the Gear VR and the Galaxy S7.
SamMobile reported, “Only a few weeks ago, the first hints pointing to a new 360-degree camera named Gear 360 surfaced. Now, with only a few weeks until Samsung’s next big unpacked event, we can exclusively confirm the Gear 360 VR camera is real and coming soon,”
The site further mentions that the Gear 360 is a small spherical camera which has the ability to capture 360-degree imaging by making use of two 180 degree fisheye lenses. The device can pair with a phone using Bluetooth.
It will work with the latest Galaxy devices but at the moment, it has been confirmed to be working with the Galaxy S7 only. Samsung Galaxy Unpacked event in Barcelona on February 21 will witness the unveiling of the Galaxy S7 and the Gear 360. The device could also be made available for pre-order on the same day.
In the meantime, new photos of Samsung Galaxy S7 and Galaxy S7 Edge have emerged and they reveal the back and front portion both the devices.
