Swedish programmer, Marcus Persson was the original creator of the Minecraft video game, but it was later developed on a large scale by Mojang and was released on 18th November, 2011.

The game was launched for a host of platforms that include- PC, OS X, PS3, PS4, PS Vita, Xbox 360, Xbox One, Linux, Android, iOS, Windows Phone, Raspberry Pi and the Universal Windows Platform.

Just in the recent past, the game’s publishers, Microsoft released one of the biggest updates for the game. The update was released for console versions of the game other than Nintendo Wii U. The free update brings in a series of new aspects to the game that include new blocks, mobs, potions and biomes.

The new blocks that the update will bring to the game are Granite, Red, Sandstone, Sea Lanterns, Packed Ice and Slime. The Redwood Forest, Mesa, Birch Forest, Mega-Taiga and the Deep Ocean are some of the new biomes will be introduced to Minecraft through the update. Biomes are essentially geographical feature rich areas in the world of Minecraft.

Among other things that the update will bring forth are Blue Orchids, Sunflowers, Lilacs, Azure Bluets and Tulips. Some new mobs like Chicken Jockeys, Rabbits, Guardians, Elder Guardians and Eldermites will also show up in the game after the update is applied to it.

The update will also bring in a new particle effect in the water while fishing. Players might also stumble upon various kinds of treasures while fishing. The treasures could be anything from special kinds of fish to junk and enchanted items.

The villagers in the game are also set to receive an upgrade. They will now have the freedom to choose when to harvest crops and breed animals.A host of new additional professions and trading schemes have also been added which the villagers can choose to undertake in the game. Villagers will turn to witches if they are struck by lightning accidentally inside the game.

The update is currently available for Xbox 360, Xbox One, PS3 and PS4 versions of the game. In other news regarding Minecraft, The Wii U version of the sandbox world-building game is just launched by the developers at the Nintendo eShop.

Although various versions of the game were already available in the market, this is the first time that the game is showing up on the Wii U. The Minecraft: Wii U edition is currently up for grabs and the game comes along with a number of included texture packs.

This version of the game is going to be the only one in the Minecraft franchise that boasts an Off-TV play feature. Minecraft: Wii U edition will be playable both on an HDTV and on the Wii U GamePad.

Players who download the Wii U version of the game will have an option of purchasing a series of additional add-on packs that will be launched along with the game. A total of 16 additional add-on packs will be made available at the Nintendo eShop besides the game. These add-on packs can be utilized by players to further expand their Minecraft gameplay experience.
