Reports are still unconfirmed, but it has been suggested that the launch of Surface Pro 5 and Surface Book 2 will depend on when Redstone 2 is launched by Microsoft.
The release date of Kaby Lake processor will be delayed by Microsoft since it will feature enhanced power saving modes.
According to some sources, Kaby Lake will be released by December while other reports suggest that it will release by the end of January. Microsoft is presently working on the next generation operating system with support for many advanced features including VR.
Analysts suggest that it is essential that the release of Surface Book 2 should be delayed by Microsoft so that the product team can fix various bugs which were earlier reported by the consumers. There were earlier reports about overheating, sleep death problems along with unplanned shutdowns. Microsoft doesn’t wish to see the same problem being repeated in the upcoming model.
The upcoming Surface Book 2 will include 1TB internal storage besides the addition of Kaby Lake CPU and Windows Redstone 2. The storage will be bigger than the 512GB variants found in the earlier counterparts. It will run on 32GB of RAM. Besides that, you can expect this device to feature a 4K 13.5inch display including USB Type-C support, Pixel Sense technology, and Thunderbolt.
Reports suggest that Surface Book 2 will be powered by an Intel Core i7 processor and it will feature a rechargeable Surface Pen as well. It will be possible to charge this pen by only using the USB Type-C Connector Port. We have no confirmation regarding the price of Surface Book 2, but this device is expected to cost more than the presently available Surface Book.
However, some other reports indicate that this new device will have the same price range like its older brother. Prices will begin at the 1500 dollar mark and go all the way up to the 3000 dollar mark.
However, it seems like Microsoft’s pattern of releasing one tablet per year will not hold true in 2016. Both Surface Book 2 and the Surface Pro 5 will release next year.
There is not a lot of information available for the Surface Book 2. Some reports indicate that it will feature an Intel Skylake processor. The device will include a rechargeable stylus as well.
The first Surface Book was released in 2015, and Microsoft proudly called it the ultimate laptop. It had a long list of hardware specs but included a few complaints as well. There were complaints regarding the Dynamic Fulcrum Hinge.
This included a gap which formed when the laptop was closed. According to Neurogadget, there were consumer complaints about low battery life in the tablet as well. TechRadar called the Surface Pro series to be the laptop killing tablet. Surface Pro 5 was first expected to be released by the end of 2016, but later reports suggested that it will launch in 2017 spring.
