In the meantime, Shepard won’t be reprising his role in the upcoming game and the new protagonist is Ryder. You can play him either as a female or a male character.
We have only seen the female lead till now and according to BioWare, they moved beyond our favorite Shepard from 10 years ago. Ryder’s story will focus on a regular colonist turning into a hero.
It is quite different from Shepard, who was a hero already in Mass Effect 1 and gradually turned into a legendary messianic character. Trailers have revealed that the game will have at least three of the major Milky Way races on Ryder’s ship.
These include the Salarian, the Krogan and of course, human. Andromeda has the Asari race as well, but the name and details of your team members are yet to be confirmed. According to a leak, Drack is a Krogan sidekick and Cora is a biotic squadmate of Asari origin.
Like the previous games in this franchise, Andromeda will focus on romantic relationships as well. According to BioWare, it will work in the same way it has always been, and same-sex relationships will be included as well.
