Grey’s Anatomy Season 12: Major Changes to be Made, New Characters Introduced, And More Details

Grey’s Anatomy Season 12 has started rolling with the actors meeting for the reading session. It looks like the cast and crew are all excited for what’s in store this season, but they are also very worried, since there are going to be some major changes in the course of the season.

Shonda Rhimes the show-runner is known to make sudden changes in the script that make a deep impact on the viewers. Last season so the sudden death of the beloved character Dr. Derek Shepherd played by Patrick Dempsey.

The sudden death of McDreamy left the fans shocked and aghast, but when it is Shonda Rhimes who is calling the shots fans know better than to expect that she will pay heed to their feelings and emotions when it comes to how the plot should progress.

ABC and Rhimes are planning to change the cast members and change the plot in an attempt to make things more dramatic in the twelfth successful season of the long running show. Grey’s Anatomy Season 12 will also see new cast members coming in.

Christian Today has reported that Season 12 will deal with the April Kepner (Sarah Drew) and Jackson Avery (Jesse Williams) story line. The previous season saw the young couple face the death of their new born infant, a few hours after it was born. This has a huge impact on the couple.

Sarah Drew has hinted at an interview that the death of her son has made April stronger and she is going to take some important decisions in her life. It is a matter of time before fans find out if she is going to separate from Avery.

There are rumors that things will also become a little messy between Alex (Justin Chambers) and Jo (Camilla Luddington). The two have been together for the past three seasons, but according to what Camilla Luddington had to tell TV Line from the San Diego Comic-Con it looks like things might turn sour between them.

The two have had a good run so far, which is a little too good to believe when it comes to Shonda Rhimes and Grey’s Anatomy and Luddington feels that Grey’s Anatomy Season 12 might see the couple facing some issues.

Camilla Luddington also added that in spite of differences the couple has always sorted their things out and now if Alex proposes, Jo will readily say a yes. This statement by the actress has started rumors that the upcoming season might see the two getting engaged.

There was a rumor that the Alex-Jo crisis will hit its peak with Alex’s ex-wife Dr. Izzie Stevens (Katherine Heigl) making a comeback to the series. However, this rumor was denied by Heigl herself. She told ET that she isn’t returning to Grey’s Anatomy. Heigl had left the show in 2010 following what is believed some issues with show-runner Shonda Rhimes.

The new season will show how Dr. Meredith Grey (Ellen Pompeo) is dealing with her husband’s sudden demise. Grey’s Anatomy Season 12 is going to show that Meredith is not taking care of herself in the aftermath of Derek’s death and this affects her health. The earlier seasons had already shown that she has Alzheimer’s gene and this plot line is likely to be explored in the upcoming season.

There are rumors that Shonda Rhimes is planning to kill Meredith Grey in Season 12 to give another hard-hitting action in the plot. This rumor has stemmed from the fact the Ellen Pompeo’s contract with the series ends with this season.

  1. Do you personally agree with having another season? I think the end of the eleventh season was the best way to end the show. I am completely against even having another season, which is ultimately going to kill off Meredith. Would you agree?
