The GoPro Hero 5 has been the talk of the town for quite some time now. It is one of the most anticipated cameras of recent times. However, the latest reports suggest that the camera might not see a release date before October 2016.
It was previously reported that the camera might be released in October 2015. However, that was not the case as GoPro abstained from unveiling the camera in the previous year due to certain reasons. The release date was pushed back to the early months of 2016.
As per the latest reports, the developers will further delay the release date of the device and it doesn’t look as if the camera will see the light of the day before October. It is being assumed that the developers are pushing back the release of the camera to make it compatible with the Karma Drone.
The Karma drone from the GoPro stable will reportedly be compatible with the GoPro 5, as well as other earlier GoPro cameras. Nick Woodman, the founder, and CEO of the GoPro company had earlier stated that the Karma Drone will be designed in such a way that it could be used in everyday life.
GoPro is trying to figure out ways in which it can reduce the size of the camera so that it could be conveniently fitted with the Karma drone. The extra time received due to the delay in its release will also enable the developers to further fine tune and perfect the device.
At the Consumer Electronics Show 2016, Woodman stated that the company creates devices that come with the feature of backward compatibility. The company aims to develop gadgets which are compatible with older GoPro devices alongside the newer ones.
This could be an indication that the Karma drone will be compatible with older versions of GoPro cameras. It is highly likely that the design of the drone will be such that it will work seamlessly with the likes of GoPro Hero 3, GoPro Hero 4 and other older models.
GoPro released a video in this regard in December 2015. The video was titled Karma is Coming and it portrayed some images which were captured using the Karma drone. However, the video did not reveal the actual drone.
A renowned website reports that GoPro is delaying the release of the Hero 5 to come up with an efficient launch plan for the device. Apparently, the company does not want to repeat the mistake that it made with the GoPro Hero 4.
The GoPro Hero 4 was initially launched with a hefty price tag of $399. The hefty price tag affected its sale as it failed to draw a larger number of takers. The company was forced to slash its price by 50 percent at a later period of time to ensure that more people were attracted towards it.
Various reports are suggesting that the company wants to avoid a similar situation with the GoPro Hero 5 at all costs. It is also incorporating some extra features into it to ensure that it is able to find a lot of takers when it finally is released.
It was previously revealed by Woodman that the Hero 5 will be built in such a way that it will enable users to edit high-quality videos in a short amount of time. He further added that before the Hero 5 is released, the company will launch a special app for desktop content management. This app will be launched in the month of March.
The app will make it easier for the user to manage contents of the camera in an efficient way. The Hero 5 will also be able to interact with the cloud services of GoPro. The task of transferring and accessing the contents of the camera manually is quite an arduous one. Thus, the company is trying to ease up the process by introducing these new features and apps.
