Meanwhile, an official release date is yet to be announced but News outlets have revealed that Hero 5 will arrive sometime in October. Considering the recent financial troubles of the company, GoPro is expected to make a final change in 2016. Besides introducing much-improved hardware, software, the company also plans to simplify its overall lineup of devices.
The present generation top camera models from GoPro are the Hero 4 Black and the Hero 4 Silver which was launched in late September 2014 but the company didn’t release an updated+ version a year later which it did with the Hero 3 cameras.
Instead, the company decided to release lower-end Hero models all throughout 2015. The Hero 4 Session required a $200 price cut in order to spark greater amount of interest among fans.
The Hero 5 rumors are pretty vague at this point with rumors suggested a price from $450-$550 and furthermore, it will be smaller and lighter compared to previous models. Other rumors suggest that GoPro will incorporate the cube design as seen on the Hero 4 Session but at the same time, it will be able to record 8K videos.
