Downton Abbey Season 6: Expect A Tearful Farewell, Contracts End For Lead Actors!

Fans are hopeful that the plot will shift to America, since two of their favourite characters Tom Branson and Lady Rose were shown leaving for America in the Christmas special episode of Downton Abbey Season 5.

Allen Leach and Lily James who played the two characters left the series after their contracts came to an end and went ahead to focus on their careers in the movie. Fans have been urging the makers to get the two for the final season of Downton Abbey.

Downton Abbey had started with a good TRP, but over the years still hadn’t been that good. The fans believe that one reason for this was that it was bordering on melodrama and the other was that it couldn’t secure long term contracts with its actors.

One of the most shocking moments of the show was when they killed off Matthew Crawley who was extremely popular with fan. They had to remove him since Dan Stevens who played him onscreen couldn’t re-sign his contract that expired at the end of the third season.

Neame believed that this move was good because it made Mary a widow and it made the story stronger. He says that this was one of the best things that had happened to the show.
