The first comic book of Doctor Strange was made way back in 1963. Kevin Feige, the president of Marvel Studios said that ever since Marvel had decided on making a film based on this character, he was sure that they needed a powerful actor who would bring in depth to the role. He added that they couldn’t have found a better actor than Benedict Cumberbatch for this part.
Marvel Studios had considered Tom Hardy, Jared Leto and Joaquin Phoenix before zeroing down on Benedict Cumberbatch. Cumberbatch has won the hearts of the audience with his brilliant rendition of Sherlock Holmes. He also gave a brilliant performance in The Imitation Game, which got him an Oscar nomination. Benedict Cumberbatch is also performing Hamlet in the Barbican and has won over both critics and fans.
Doctor Strange 2016 will see Benedict Cumberbatch’s Doctor Strange engage in battle with Baron Mordo who is his nemesis. Mordo will be played by Chiwetel Ejiofor. However, Cinema Blend has revealed that Baron Mordo isn’t going to be the only villain in the upcoming film.
It is believed that the film is going to deal with a group of black magicians called Zealots will open a portal to a second dimension. The leader of the Zealots will be Kaecilius. Kaecilius, as the fans of the comic book will realize is Baron Mordo’s henchman, but Marvel is going to treat this character in a completely different fashion.
The other characters starring in the film are Mads Mikkelsen and Rachel McAdams.
