The casting for Fast and Furious 8 has been pretty much decided and most of the reports about this movie, talk about various possible plotlines. Recently, the most important tidbit about this movie found online is about the British action star Jason Statham.
According to the reports, played Deckard Shaw in Fast and Furious 7 will turn into a good guy for the next installment in the Fast and Furious franchise. This actually ends up contradicting earlier reports that suggested that British actress Helen Mirren will be a part of this upcoming movie.
According to these reports, she would break Jason Statham from prison and the two of them will end up forming a big bad ensemble in the movie. Therefore, chances of Deckard Shaw turning from a bad guy into a good guy for the upcoming movie look pretty slim.
However, at the same time, producers are yet to make an official statement regarding this and therefore, there’s still a slight possibility.
Enstarz notes that Deckard Shaw turning into a good guy for the upcoming movie is really possible since someone else will take over the role of a bad guy in the upcoming movie.
Till now, we have no word regarding who this character will be. Thankfully, when producers do confirm who the next big villain will be, Jason Statham’s Deckard Shaw could be off the hook playing the baddie again.
You may recall that franchises have a habit of turning the bad guys into good guys. The first actor that this was done to was Vin Diesel’s Dominic Toretto. The same thing happened to Dwayne ‘The Rock’ Johnson’s Luke Hobbs character.
Keep in mind that Hobbs is not a criminal but in fact, he is a law enforcer. However, he eventually sided with Dom’s group after realizing that they are working together for a good cause and not just for themselves.
Considering the trend, Jason Statham’s Deckard Shaw could be the third character to turn good in this franchise. That being said, everything is a speculation at this point and nothing has been confirmed so far.
During a recent interview, Jason confirmed that he is excited about being a part of the Fast and Furious franchise because according to him, this series has a rather unique fan base. According to him, the movies relate to characters and fans really love them even after watching them for years and years.
He further confirmed his participation in Fast and Furious 8 and considers himself to be a newcomer who just got invited to the party. He declared that he is happy to be taking part in another movie of this franchise.
Meanwhile, on February 3, Vin Diesel posted the release dates of Fast and Furious 8 along with that of the next two releases of this franchise as well. Fast and Furious 8 will be released to worldwide theaters on 19th April 2019.
Meanwhile, Fast and Furious 10 will release globally on 2nd April, 2021. Ever since the first Fast and Furious film came out in 2001, it would make up 10 films in this legendary saga, over a period of 20 years. Fast and Furious will be the first non-horror movie franchise that has several stories in a single saga.
The only horror movie that actually made past 10 movies was Friday the 13th franchise. Meanwhile, Universal Studios debunked all rumors suggesting that Paul Walker’s brothers Cody and Caleb Walker would be a part of the eighth installment in the Fast and Furious franchise. They will not play as possible stand-ins for to their late brother.
