Call of Duty: Black Ops 3: Retains Top Position in UK Sales Charts in The New Year, Two More Hotfixes Released for The Game!

Call of Duty: Black Ops 3 was released by Activision on November 6, 2015 and it has remained one of the most popular games since its release, topping UK sales charts consistently. It was able to hold on to the top position in the UK sales charts in the first week of 2016.

With no major releases in sight, it seems like the game will continue to hold onto its current position for quite some time. FIFA 16 has moved two spots up and is currently holding the second position just ahead of Star Wars Battlefront in the third position.

Grand Theft Auto 5 and Fallout 4 remain in the fourth and fifth position followed by Tom Clancy’s Rainbow Six Siege in the sixth.  WWE 2K15 has managed to make its way back to the top ten games and is currently sitting at the seventh position just ahead of Just Cause 3 and Assassin’s Creed Syndicate in the eighth and ninth positions respectively.

Some hefty discounts on Battlefield 4 during the holiday season has propelled the game from twenty third to the tenth position on the list.

Call of Duty: Black Ops 3 has also bagged the title of the number 1 game for the previous year and this was the seventh consecutive year that a Call of Duty game has managed to steal the title in North America.

The popularity of the game could be gauged from the fact that it was able to rake in more than $550 million within the first three days of its release. The total earnings of the game in the previous year alone stood at a whopping $13.1 billion. Apparently, the total number of units sold for all Call of Duty games has hit the 250 million mark after the release of Call of Duty: Black Ops 3.

Scott Lowe, the Community Manager for Activision wrote on a blog post that it has been a great year for the publishing company as well as for everyone at Treyarch, the developer of the game. Lowe also revealed that the first DLC for the game which is being called the Awakening will be released on February 2 for PlayStation 4. The DLC will be gradually rolled out at later dates for the other platforms.

The latest reports suggest that the Awakening DLC is currently available for pre-order for the PS4 platform.  Fans who are not in possession of the Season Pass can currently pre-order the DLC and doing so will make them eligible to receive an exclusive dynamic theme of Awakening along with the expansion pack.

The dynamic theme will also be available for fans who own the Season Pass and has already pre-ordered the game. In other news, the Team Deathmatch score of the game has been changed to 100 for the weekend. The announcement was made by David Vonderhaar of Treyarch in his Twitter account.

Vonderhaar also explained the reason behind this change by stating that Black Ops 3 has a faster rate of gameplay compared to its predecessor and this is resulting in the TDM games concluding two minutes earlier than the time when it is actually meant to come to an end.

He warned fans not to panic over this change of score and also said that the developers might change the score back to its original limit in-case there is a change in the game time.

Fans are in for some treat because they will currently be able to earn 2X Cryptokeys by logging into the game. This special event has begun from 15th January and will last till 6pm UK Time of 19th January.
