Google rolled out the Android 6.0 marshmallow OS back in October 2015 and since then a number of smartphone companies have started introducing this update for their devices.
One such company is Sony which recently announced that their smartphone, the Sony Xperia M4 Aqua is set to receive the update in the recent future.
Back in July 2015, the company announced a list of phones that would receive the latest OS update. The Sony Xperia M4 Aqua was missing from the list and it created a confusion among M4 Aqua users whether Sony would introduce the update for the device or not.
The M4 Aqua currently runs on Android 5.0 Lollipop and users have been craving to receive the latest Android 6.0 Marshmallow update on their devices.
Good news for M4 Aqua users came in the form of a Tweet by the company in which it was stated that Sony would not introduce the Android 5.1 update for the M4 Aqua, instead, it will directly roll out the Android M update for the particular device.
However, the Tweet did not mention any specific details regarding the date on which the update will be rolled out for the M4 Aqua.
A renowned website reports that another device from the Sony stable, the Sony Xperia Z5 has already started receiving the Android Marshmallow Update Over the Air (OTA). Two other models of the Z5 lineup, the Xperia Z5 Compact, and the Xperia Z5 Premium are due to receive the update in the near future.
Users of the Xperia Z5 in Turkey will reportedly be the first ones to receive the update. However, Sony will roll out the update in other countries soon enough.
Some other devices for which Sony will introduce the update in the near future include- Xperia Z4 Tablet, Xperia M4, Xperia C4, Xperia Z3+, Xperia Z3, Xperia Z2, Xperia Z3 Compact, Xperia 2 Tablet, Xperia M5 and Xperia C5 Ultra.
It is unlikely that Sony would make separate announcements before rolling out the update for other Z5 lineup and thus users who live in Europe might want to keep a lookout for any update notifications on their devices.
Another renowned company that is rolling out the Marshmallow update for their smartphones in LG. LG has already started rolling out the latest OS update for T-Mobile’s LG G4. It has a model number of H811.
Other carrier models of this particular smartphone model have already received the update and T-Mobile is the last one in the line to finally introduce the update for the LG G4.
It was reported that only one LG G4 user was able to receive the update OTA. As for the rest of the users who have upgraded their device to the latest version of Android OS have done it by using a PC or a Mac through the LG Bridge Software.
However, in light of the fact that a single LG G4 user has received the update OTA, it can be assumed that it will soon be rolled out by T-Mobile OTA for all users of the device.
Another LG smartphone, the LG G3 is also reportedly receiving the update at the present moment. The first carrier to roll out this update is Verizon. The other carriers of this device will also roll out the update in the near future.
It is being rumored that two more LG devices will also receive the Marshmallow update soon. These two devices are the LG G Flex 2 and the LG G2.
The LG G2 is a relatively older device and thus, it may come as a surprise to some users to receive the Marshmallow update on this device. However, this device was spotted running on the latest version of Android OS at the Geekbench site. Thus it can be assumed that an Android Marshmallow update for this device is on the cards.
