Amazon Fire HD 10 Promises A Lot But Suffers From Mediocre Performance!

Amazon has been improving the performance and hardware specifications of its devices over the last few years. With the release of Amazon Fire HD 10, it almost seems like the company decided to take a step back and go behind in time, without caring about performance or design and simply focusing on the ease of access.

The latest offering from Amazon is the 16GB Fire HD 10, and Amazon has claimed that they are continuously improving the performance of this device. The Fire HD 10 is available for a price of 180 dollars.

It is a midrange offering from Amazon, located between the cheap $50 Fire tablet and the Fire HDX 8.9, which starts at a price of $200 and goes upwards to $400 or more.

There is a quad-core 1.5GHz and 1.2GHz packed inside the HD 10 and this doesn’t mean that the device is very special to most people.

On the contrary, it means that the device is fast and responsive and there is no lag when you are switching between applications and tasks. However, reviews have pointed out that in certain cases there is a heavy lag experienced by the device.

Even after trying different networks, the condition did not improve. When it came to performance tests which included testing features like screen responsiveness and speed, the Kindle Fire HDX, which is the two-year-old model, performed smoother and better than the Fire HD 10.

When it comes to sheer performance, the Fire HD 10 is completely blown away by last year’s Fire HDX 8.9.

When you are looking at the hardware of Amazon Fire HD 10, you will immediately notice that this device is far from being a really powerful one. The specs on this device are pretty entry level, which is quite surprising when you consider the price of this device.

However, you should keep in mind that this tablet is more focused on entertainment and media consumption. You can use it for watching videos, reading books and browsing the internet, as opposed to multitasking at work and playing high-end games on your device.

There is a 10-inch IPS LCD display featured on this device and comes with a display resolution of 800×1200 pixels.

Under the hood, a quad-core processor runs at 1.5GHz and is paired with 1.5GB of RAM. The external microSD storage can be expanded to 128GB and it further comes in 16GB and 32GB storage variants. There is a 720MP front camera available for your video chats and a 5-megapixel shooter located in the rear.

Keep in mind that these cameras are not at all meant for taking great pictures and they are more about just staying the device rather than being absent.

According to Amazon Fire HD, the device boasts 8 hours of battery life and it is non-removable in nature.  The exact battery capacity is not listed by Amazon.

The Amazon Fire HD 10 runs on Fire OS 5 and it is based on Android Lollipop. When you are looking at build materials and hardware of the Amazon Fire HD 10, it is not at all great but it is pretty comfortable and nice and promises a rather premium quality.

At the same time, Amazon has promised that this device is 2 times more durable than the iPad Air 2. The Amazon Fire HD 10 comes in white or black and is a light-weight device made of durable soft touch plastic.

When the tablet is held in portrait mode, the sides are completely free of any kind of buttons. There are dual stereo speakers located on the left side and there is a microSD card slot located on the top.
