Ramsay declines the challenge and reminds Jon that his brother Rickon is still in his captivity. Before the battle, Jon was seen chalking up strategies for the war with Tormund, Davos and others. Sansa was not involved in the matter, and she was not happy about it.

On the day of the battle, Ramsay brings out Rickon and asks him to run towards Jon. He starts shooting arrows at him while he is running and is soon struck down by one of them consequently leading to his death.

This enrages Jon, who abandons all strategy and charges forward towards the Bolton army. Jon’s army too charges forward leading to numerous casualties. The Bolton army struck down many of their opponents with arrows.

Jon is seen charging forward while slashing every enemy that he can get his hands upon. Jon’s command is very nearly massacred by the Bolton army and him along with Tormund, WunWun the giant and the wildlings are surrounded by the Bolton army.
