The release date for Xiaomi Mi 5 has been confirmed as 24th February. The latest rumors and leaks involving this device have presented us with the major hardware specifications and features of the Mi 5. All the configurations as well as pricing details of the device have been released.

While visiting a benchmark testing site, the same device revealed key specifications and this put a stop to the conflicting rumors that were circulating on the internet.

Meanwhile, there is now an alleged image of the Xiaomi Mi5 back panel making rounds on the internet. The GFXBench listing states that the Mi5 will carry a 5.7inch display and 1080p full HD resolution.

However, past rumors suggested that the device would sport a 5/2 or a 5.5 inches display. Under the hood, we have Qualcomm Snapdragon 820 powering the device.

The Mi 5 will run on Android Marshmallow 6.0 OS and will surely come with a clean and hassle free MIUI. According to the listing, the Mi5 has a Qualcomm Adreno 530 graphics unit and Open GLES 3.1. The storage is 54GB while the memory is 2.7GB.

The listing further points out other features like a barometer, accelerometer, Bluetooth, front camera, rear camera, compass, GPS,  gyroscope, light sensor, NFC, pedometer, proximity sensor and Wi-Fi among others. According to the latest rumors, the Xiaomi Mi 5 will come in two different variants, one with 3GB and the other with 4GB of RAM.

The speculations suggest that the device which visited the benchmark site came with 3GB of RAM and 64GB of native storage combination. In terms of configuration, the Mi 5 will sport a 16megapixel camera in the rear with f/2.2 aperture.

There is an 8-megapixel front-facing camera for your selfies. The following connectivity options will be supported by this device: 4G LTE, NFC, Bluetooth 4.0, GPS with GLONASS, Wi-Fi 802.11a/b/g/n/ac, BDS, and OTG. In terms of pricing, the Xiaomi Mi5 will cost around 2500CNY, which roughly translates to around 380 dollars.

In the meantime, a Weibo post revealed the back panel of this upcoming device and it comes with an interesting pattern. The patters are in Gold in color. Right now, we have no idea whether the other variants of Black, Pink and White have the same pattern on their back. Hence, this remains to be seen.

The official reports suggest that Xiaomi Mi 5 will be revealed on 24th February this year and fans are eagerly waiting for it. It will come with Qualcomm Snapdragon 820 chipset but many other configurations have been confirmed by the company executives in the past. Meanwhile, there was no information available regarding the screen resolution of this particular device.

However, a recent Weibo update from China confirmed this particular feature. For quite some time, key information about the flagship was being released by Xiaomi’s Senior VP Liwan Jiang.

Through the official Weibo page, he confirmed that the Mi5 will carry a full HD resolution of 1080p. However, the earlier rumors suggested that the upcoming Mi 5 will sport a Quad 2K resolution display, similar to most flagships releasing at the moment.

A lot of Xiaomi fans will definitely be disappointed by this news. However, on the bright side, the Mi5 will come with a pocket-friendly display size of 5.0 or 5.2inches. It will sport 441ppi pixel density if it is a 5.0inch screen and a 424ppi pixel density if it is a 5.2 inches screen.

No matter what, it is clear that the display will be pretty sharp at 400ppi or higher. However, there is an advantage to having a moderate resolution.

In terms of power, QHD consumes lesser than that of the FHD ones. By utilizing minimal power, the Xiaomi Mi 5 could save a lot of battery life with its full HD 1080p resolution display. Meanwhile, Huawei CEO Yu Chengdong earlier declared that it is virtually impossible for the human eye to differentiate between the two resolutions.
