Uncharted 4: A Thief’s End is an action-adventure third-person shooting video game that has been developed by Naughty Dog. It was released for the PlayStation 4 console by Sony Interactive Entertainment on May 10, 2016.
The latest reports pertaining to this game suggests that it has sold more than 2.7 million units within the first week of its release. It was Sony itself that gave confirmation regarding the matter.
The announcement was made via the PlayStation Blog. Asad Qizilbash, the Marketing Manager for Sony Computer Entertainment America stated that Uncharted 4 is the fastest selling PlayStation 4 first party game till date in North America.
Shawn Layden, the chairman of Sony Interactive Entertainment Worldwide Studios expressed his gratitude towards Naughty Dog for making Uncharted 4 such a great game. He added that the game has set the bar for interactive entertainment to a new high.
It has also come to light that Uncharted 4 is the most successful game of the Uncharted series in UK terms of sales in the first week. A 10 out of 10 rating for the game by GameSpot speaks volumes about how awesome the game is.
Within the first week, the game managed to race past all the other titles to acquire the top spot in the UK sales chart. Come second week, it is still sitting firmly at the top most position of the list. It is followed by DOOM and Homefront: The Revolution in the second and third places respectively.
A renowned website reports that there has been a 78% drop in the sales of Uncharted 4 in the UK in the second week after its launch. Nevertheless, the game is still holding the number one spot in terms of sales in the UK.
The site further reports that such a fall in sales is normal in recent times. It is due to the fact that majority of gamers pre-order games much before they are released and thus there is an explosion of sales in the first week.
Thus, the sales figures of the second week can in no way match the figures of the first week. A UK-based sales-tracking company by the name of GFK Chart-Track reports that such a massive amount of fall in sales of the game is not alarming for the developers or publishers as most recent games’ sales show a drop in sales in the second week to a tune of around 70%.
Some games show an even greater drop in sales. The site also touted the likes of Fallout 4 and GTA 5 as an example in this regard.
Fallout 4 which is one of the most successful games from Bethesda showed an 80% decline in sales in the second week while Rockstar’s GTA 5 showed an 83% drop in sales in the second week. Despite such huge drops in sales, it is needless to state that these two games are two of the most high-selling games of all times.
Thus, it can be safely stated that the huge drop in sales of Uncharted 4 will not be enough to stop it from becoming one of the highest grossers of Sony.
The highest achievement in Uncharted 4 is acquiring the Platinum Trophy. Various reports suggest that Sony will be awarding fans in a small way who manages to acquire the said achievement.
A Reddit user has reportedly posted an image which shows the gift that will be given to fans for obtaining the Platinum Trophy. Apparently, it is some kind of an artwork. However, it should be mentioned that the artwork is anything but ordinary. It is the same artwork that can be found in the Uncharted 4: A Thief’s End Collector’s Edition.
