Sylvester Stallone is coming as a producer to Netflix and reports indicate that the Creed actor will be making a reality TV show which comes with the DNA of Netflix series ‘Survivor’. It has been officially titled the ‘Ultimate Beastmaster’. The TV series includes contestants from six different countries and features an obstacle course competition.
Due to the show’s international nature, it will be available in six different versions, including languages for the US, Germany, Mexico, South Korea, Brazil and Japan while featuring local hosts.
Ultimate Beastmaster will be promoted as a worldwide competition with local skill on Netflix. Besides looking a lot like Netflix’s Survivor, Ultimate Beastmaster has similarities with other shows like American Ninja Warrior and Wipeout.
Reports indicate that the contestants have to go through an obstacle course named ‘The Beast’. The executive producer of reality-TV show, The Biggest Loser, will be joining Stallone in the production of this show. Sylvester Stallone shouldn’t appear in the show and primarily stay behind scenes.
However, Netflix is planning a surprise for the Ultimate Beastmaster audience, in the future. Charissa Thompson and Terry Crews will be featured as hosts on the US version of Ultimate Beastmaster.
Being Stallone’s protégé, Crews was heard saying that he would do any project that Sylvester Stallone wants him to do since he considers Sly to be his father in this business. The show will have 10 episodes with 108 contestants, equally segregated among six hosting countries.
According to The Verge, the final episode will make the winners of first nine episodes come together. The winner in any individual episode will be called Beastmaster while the overall final winner, will be called Ultimate Beastmaster.
If you think about it, Ultimate Beastmaster sounds a lot like something from He-Man and the Masters of the Universe. The show’s episodes will launch simultaneously worldwide but a release date is yet to be confirmed.
When it comes to original content, Reality TV could be the next focus for Netflix. With Chelsea Handler’s show, Netflix is extending its branches into standard programming for the first time ever. These reality shows attract a wider audience and are much cheaper to produce.
The format to be featured on Ultimate Beastmaster has been done several times and Netflix is sure that it will find an audience. With extra work and customization for different locations, there is even a greater chance for Netflix, to attract a greater category of viewers.
The obstacle course known as The Beast, will challenge players and test their strength, endurance, agility and speed. The episodes will feature 12 competitors struggling to achieve the Beastmaster title.
Talking about his involvement with Ultimate Beastmaster, Stallone admitted that he was unable to refuse the invitation to partner up with Dave Broome and Netflix, on this revolutionary concept.
He declared that the world will thoroughly enjoy the show as contestants from all around the world, come together and go through a lot of grueling physical challenges. In this process, they will become heroes and champions.
Sly admitted that he is quite excited to be a part of this show. The show will offer prizes to the winners of first nine competitions and a greater prize, awaits the Ultimate Beastmaster.
A lot of viewers are excited with the fact that Sylvester Stallone is finally coming to television. He should have done it a long time ago.
From the looks of it, John Rambo will be dealing with two television projects at once. Sylvester Stallone is also involved with a mob series called Omerta. On an exciting note, the latter is adopted from a novel written by the famous Mario Puzo, author of The Godfather.
