Street Fighter V is going to be the first game in the Street Fighter series that will come with a proper story mode. Yoshinori Ono, the series producer recently revealed that the brand new single player campaign will be released as a free DLC in the month of June.
The game itself is set to hit the market on February 16. The story expansion pack will be free to download for anyone who purchases the game.
Just in the recent past, Capcom made announcements regarding the fourth beta testing of the game. The fourth beta testing of Street Fighter V which is also going to be the last one for it is scheduled to begin on January 30 and conclude on the following day that is January 31.
The game was initially announced back in 2014 and since then numerous fans have voiced their desire through social media to see a story mode incorporated into it. It was these feedbacks from fans that got Yoshinori Ono into thinking and finally deciding to include a story based campaign in the upcoming game. The story will reportedly act as a bridge between the events of the previous two iterations of the game- Street Fighter IV and Street Fighter III.
The cinematic sequence of the story mode of the game has been created using the same 3D engine that the developers used for creating the rest of the game.
Players will be able to choose from amongst different characters for playing the arcade mode of the game. Each of these characters come with a background story of their own. Renowned Japanese illustrator Bengus has created the various artworks of Street Fighter V.
Capcom stated that the in-game currency of the game is going to be Fight Money. Players will be able to rack up this currency by playing the game in survival and arcade modes with different characters. This will result in ranking up of the characters and will also allow players to earn Fight Money.
Fight Money is to be used by players to purchase new characters that will be gradually released by Capcom. The first post launch content for the game which will be released in March will bring with itself the first purchasable new character of the game.
A March release for the first post launch update will ensure that players get enough time to accumulate the required amount of Fight Money that will be necessary to purchase the first new character. Daily missions will be added to the game at that time which will allow players to earn Fight Money on a regular basis.
The company further stated that it will abstain from the practice of releasing bigger updates for which players will have to shell out real cash. Instead, it will keep on releasing smaller free updates on a regular basis which would help maintain the interest of gamers for the game.
Capcom stated that the reason that they would not release paid updates is, in that case some members of the community might decide against acquiring the update by paying real money.
So it has come up with the decision to release free updates which are likely to be acquired by all the members of the community.
However, at the same time fans should keep in mind that the game will come with some unlockable items that can only be acquired by paying real cash or by spending the in-game currency- Fight Money. The store from where these items can be bought will be launched by Capcom after a month from the game’s release date.
