While we were getting accustomed to the tough 27-hp 2015 Shelby American Mustang GT, Shelby America recently announced new Mustang that churns out a mind-blowing 750HP. The latest 2015 Shelby Super Snake starts off as a 2015 Ford Mustang GT and adds a boot-load of go-fast items to crank up things a bit.
When you order the Super Snake package, you net modifications to nearly every aspect of the Coupe. In order to make the gut-wrenching horsepower figure, the 2015’s Ford Mustang GT has a 5.0 liter V8 that is fitted with a Ford Performance Supercharger along with a Ford Racing Borla Exhaust. The breathing apparatus helps to push the V8 in the 2015 Ford Mustang to over 750HP, which is a 315HP boost over the stock input of the GT.
Shelby does not talk about any further modifications to the engine, besides the supercharger. However, it is certain that Shelby outfitted the engine with a heavy-duty fuel ignition along with an intake-system that brings the power up to such massive levels.
Meanwhile, the power is sent to the wheels using a six-speed manual transmission or in case of the Super Snake, for the first time, an automatic transmission is used. The Super Snake comes with Ford Performance Half-Shafts, along with a new 3.73 final drive.
It makes sure that such extreme power doesn’t shred the rear wheels and burst the axles right off the chassis. In order to deal with the speed that comes with such extreme power, the Super Snake is equipped with massive Wilwood Six-Piston Front Brakes which are hidden behind 20-inch Weld Wheels, wrapped in sticky Michelin Tires.
While taking the car from a drag strip to a canyon road, a Ford Performance suspension/handling pack will facilitate the change. As the performance stats would suggest, the Super Snake is quite aggressive on the outside. The package comes with a big list of carbon fiber goodies that include the hood, front splitter, rocker panels, rear spoiler, rear diffuser, mirror covers and taillight panels.
The Super Snake also includes a short throw shifter on the inside, designed for manual transmission models along with a carbon fiber gauge pod. Throughout the cabin, you are bound to notice the Shelby Badging along with sill plates, headrest covers and branded floor mats.
Yes but will it be made in RHD so us aussies can enjoy it? Ford took away our own Falcon GT and is to replace it with the ‘stang which even in V8 GT guise has about 30KW less power than the Falcon. ( or about 60KW less when the Falcon is on overboost)
