Rolling Stones Mick Jagger is a father again at age 73

Music icon Mick Jagger has welcomed his eighth child, making him a father again at the age of 73.

The Rolling Stones frontman’s 29-year-old girlfriend Melanie Hamrick, gave birth to a baby boy on December 8 in New York City.

The news was confirmed in a statement by the group’s publicist Bernard Doherty.

“Melanie Hamrick and Mick Jagger’s son was born today in New York and they are both delighted. Mick was at the hospital for the arrival. Mother and baby are doing well and we request that the media respect their privacy at this time.”

The name of the couple’s baby was not revealed in the announcement.

In what is sure to be an interesting family tree, the newborn child is already a great-uncle. Effectively, Jagger became a great-grandfather in 2014 when granddaughter Assisi Jackson gave birth to a girl.

The 73-year-old British Rolling Stones lead singer is already the father of seven other children, four daughters and three sons ages 18 to 47, from four different women.  He also has five grandchildren.

Jagger began dating Hamrick shortly after the death of former partner of 13 years L’Wren Scott who committed suicide in 2014.

A new album now available

The Rolling Stones’ new studio album “Blue & Lonesome” was released last week on December 2nd.  It is expected to hit the top of Britain’s album chart in the coming weeks.

This is the first time the band has released a full album consisting entirely of cover songs.  It took them only 3 days in December 2015 to record it.

It is also their first studio release since 2005’s A Bigger Bang.

In a career of over 45 years, The Rolling Stones have released 55 albums consisting of original songs and compilations.  All those efforts resulted to the selling of over 200 million records worldwide.
