It has been six years since the Rockstar Games published the title, Red Dead Redemption was released. Hence after receiving news from the company that it is currently working on a project, fans have started speculating that the sequel to this critically acclaimed game must be on its way soon.
For years now Rockstar Gaming has disappointed fans by their failure to announce the unveiling of Red Dead Redemption 2 at any of their gaming events. Although, it should be noted that Rockstar Games is still keeping a tight lip about the possibility of a Red Dead Redemption 2 release.
According to many trusted news forums, they already have confirmed that they are currently occupied with “exciting new projects.” Their declaration has rekindled the hope amongst fans that Red Dead Redemption 2 is one of the games that they are currently working on.
In any case, it is out of character for Rockstar Games to release any teasers, unless the project is finally revealed in one of their events. The company hasn’t yet officially confirmed about the release of the above-said game.
There are assumptions regarding what the storyline might be. Reportedly, it could be inspired from The Walking Dead on AMC. Previously Rockstar Games had released a zombie filled DLC patch.
Even though the Red Dead Redemption: Undead Nightmare was a separate game, speculations state that the Red Dead Redemption 2 might feature multiple protagonists – similar to the game Grand Theft Auto V.
On the other hand, Fragger has claimed to have received an email stating that the upcoming Red Dead Redemption segment will be named Red Dead Redemption 2: Legends of the West. It also said that the game is scheduled for a release in the fall of 2017. Apart from featuring more than one playable character, the game will also provide an even bigger open-world setting than the previous titles ever did.
Fans are awaiting confirmation about this sequel’s release to be announced within this year. The fact remains that this is all unverified information.
It is expected that the game shall be released for the current console models. According to reports Red Dead Redemption 2 will share the limelight with Sony’s PS4 Neo. Both the game as well as the console will apparently be unveiled at the same event, the launch of the latest Sony console of September.
Another rumor claims that Rockstar Games might release it as Red Dead Redemption 3 instead of Red Dead Redemption 2, since the title is already the third installment in the franchise. The first game was titled Red Dead Revolver, which was released for PS2 and Xbox.
In a recent interview, Take Two CEO Strauss Zelnick reportedly pointed at Red Dead Redemption’s ongoing franchise. Zelnick had previously stated that “Red Dead Redemption” is a permanent title in Rockstar. This comment leaves room for the implication that a sequel is bound to come out eventually.
In the interview Zelnick stated that Rockstar Games has been deliberately choosy and selective of which games they publish. This is primarily because they do not want to flood the market with numerous titles. He clarified that they would rather stick to encouraging fans with good, well-distributed games.
According to rumors, fans have reason to believe that the next game to be released by Rockstar Games will be either Red Dead Redemption 2 or Grand Theft Auto 6. Each of these two titles are very anticipated and awaited, so fans are eagerly waiting to see what developments the company is working on.
