Apart from Megan Fox, Peter Gallagher will also be joining New Girl Season 5. He will be coming in as Schmidt’s father. With Schmidt and Cece planning to tie the knot, there is going to be some funny incidents involving Schmidt and his father.
While two new characters are joining the star cast of New Girl Season 5, Damon Wayans Jr. will be leaving the show permanently. He is going to go ahead and focus on Happy Ending. New Girl had started first with Damon Wayans Jr. as Coach.
He had left after the pilot episode and had returned in the third season and continued till the fourth. However, he has decided that he will not return for Season 5.
Liz Meriwether has assured fans that Coach is an integral member of the New Girl family and although they have worked on a plot for his exit, they have kept the doors open for his return if he changes his mind. Damon Wayans Jr. didn’t renew his contract for Season 5, but the executive producers have kept his space open in case he wants to return.
Unlike Damon Wayans Jr. Zooey Deschanel is away on only a maternity leave and will be back to reprise her role as the eccentric Jess. Fans were reassured that she hasn’t left the show permanently and has just gone on a break to give birth to her baby.
