Former cast members Michael Keaton and JK Simmons have decided to quit Kong: Skull Island and Legendary Pictures have been quick to act and save the moment. The studio has reportedly found out replacements for them already.
Slash Films have reported that Tom Wilkins, Samuel L. Jackson and John C Reilly are going to come together to star in the prequel of King Kong along with Tom Hiddleston. Variety has also revealed that The Walking Dead actor Corey Hawkins is also in the talks with Legendary Pictures and is set to make an appearance in the film as well.
Kong: Skull Island will see Jason Mitchell team up with his co-star from Compton, Corey Hawkins. Hawkins is set to play Dr. Dre in the upcoming film. Jason Mitchell is also set to star in King: Skull Island, where he is going to play the part of a pilot. Mitchell is known for his role in Straight Outta Compton as well as his supporting roles in Contraband and Broken City.
Mitchell is currently busy shooting for Keanu, a new Line comedy that is being created by Jordan Peele and Keegan Michael Key. He will also be seen in the indie feature called Vincent-N-Roxxy along with Zoe Kravitz and Emile Hirsch. Mitchell got his big break after his amazing performance of a member of the N.W.A who dies after getting complications because of AIDS in 1995.
Tom Hiddleston is going to be in the lead with Brie Larson as his co-star and her presence has been long confirmed. There are reports that Toby Kebbell is likely to join Kong: Skull Island. He is well known for his portrayal of Dr. Doom in the new version of Fantastic Four. Screen Crush has revealed that the actor is in talk with the production house to get a part in the much anticipated film.
Former cast member JK Simmons might not be a part of the movie anymore, but he has gone ahead and given out some important scoops about the plot of Kong: Skull Island. The movie is going to show the initial days of King Kong and will be based in the 1971 Detroit.
Simmons said that when he first heard about the movie his initial reaction was why would anyone be interested in a new King Kong. He then met up with Jordan Vogt-Roberts, the director of the film as well as the scriptwriter John Gatins. Jordan was very passionate about what he is going to work on.
Simmons liked the new angle that the film would be taking in the old story of King Kong. Moreover, the film was being set in Detroit, which is where he grew up. The other reason that got him interested in Kong: Skull Island was the fact that the movie would be shot in Detroit during the baseball season and this would give him the perfect opportunity to go ahead and watch the Tigers in action.
Tom Hiddleston has been involved with the project since the initial days of the movie pre-production, said that Jordan Vogt-Roberts has an extraordinary vision and it is going to beautifully portrayed in the upcoming film.
Hiddleston said that the King Kong story that Vogt-Roberts is working on is something that has never been seen before. It is very ambitious, but it something that is going to be an epic. The vision of the character and the plot is superb.
