The first promo of Suicide Squad didn’t excite the fans of Jared Leto since it didn’t have much footage of the Joker. However, the fans got to see Jared Leto in his most talked about role as the Joker in the second trailer that was released. The trailer showed Jared Leto lying down in the centre of a circle made from knives and sharp blades while he laughs hysterically.
The first glimpse of Joker came in the San Diego Comic Con last year and since then there has been a lot of buzz surrounding the role. The new trailer came on television as part of DC Comics special for The Dawn of the Justice League. The shows Will Smith’s Deadshot, Jared Leto’s Joker, Margot Robbie’s Harley Quinn and Jai Courtney’s Captain Boomerang.
Suicide Squad is one of the most anticipated films of the year. The concept of using hardcore criminals to take down a super villain is already interesting and what makes it better is the fact that there are actors like Jared Leto, Margot Robbie and Will Smith in it.
The Joker is one of the most well known villains in Hollywood and what increases the excitement surrounding the character is the glimpse of how Jared Leto plays it. He has gotten tattoos and has worked on his teeth and even colored his hair and worked hard to get a lean physique. David Ayer, the director of Suicide Squad has informed that Jared Leto is a method actor and he would remain in the mould of his character even in between shots. Ayer informed USA Today that people would stay away from Jared Leto on the sets since he would be in his Joker mode 24/7.
Being a director, it is on David Ayer to see which method of acting works best for which actor and he realized in some time that for Jared Leto staying in the character helped him perform well.
When asked if Jared Leto had done something crazy on the set, David Ayer added that Jared Leto had gifted Margot Robbie, who plays the role of his on screen love interest Harley Quinn a rat! David Ayer accepted the fact that Jared Leto would often scare him very badly. The hair on the back of his neck would stand up.
Ayer has always been a Batman fan and for him the Joker enjoys a very special place. He said that seeing Jared Leto get into the screen of the actor was an experience he would never forget.
Jack Snyder, the director of Batman V Superman: Dawn of Justice also spoke about the Joker. He said that the actors have to give a commitment of a different level for roles like that of the Joker.
