The Honda Civic Type R should be immensely fast for most people. Honda provided a pre-production mule that has the record of lapping Nurburgring in 7:50:63. The 2015 Honda Civic Type R currently holds the record for the fastest front-wheel-drive vehicle to have every gone round the Green Hell.
Meanwhile, Hisayuki Yagi, project leader declared that a faster and lighter variant of the Honda Civic Type R will be developed in case a rival hatch decides to rob Honda of this Nurburgring record.
Hisayuki declared that they didn’t leave themselves any margin of safety while making the lap. He further revealed that the pre-production mule was equipped with the same unmodified engine, tires and suspension setup of the production variant. The only difference was the absence of air-conditioning which had to be removed due to the inclusion of a roll cage.
