Elder Scrolls 6 Will Not Release This Year, Will The Upcoming Installment Be Skyrim 2? Let’s See

Fans of the Elder Scrolls series are asking themselves the same question again and again. When will the next installment in this franchise be released? According to the latest reports, the main focus of Bethesda Game Studios at this time is on their existing video games along with their expansions.

This is definitely a load of bad news for players who were waiting for the company to announce the development and release of their upcoming game Elder Scrolls 6 or Skyrim 2. Many fans are really hoping that the company will make a major announcement at this year’s E3 regarding Elder Scrolls 6.

It will take place in June at the Los Angeles Convention Center. Meanwhile, long-time fans of this series were pretty disappointed when video game designer Todd Howard backpedaled from his previous statement that the company is presently working on three big crazy projects.

During an interview with Game Industry, he said, “I should have never said a number because we have so many things,” “You could add it up in different ways. You could say it’s bigger or smaller. They’re a long way off. I think the larger point was no one should expect to hear about those [games] anytime soon. We always overlap projects. We just have more going on now than we had before.”

There are further reports which suggested that the development for Elder Scrolls 6 was stopped due to the release of Fallout 4. Rumors suggest that the company has completely shifted its attention to Fallout 4 and its expansions instead of the development and eventual release of Elder Scrolls 6.

However, all this information comes from existing fans and critics. Nothing has been confirmed by the company so far but there are reports suggesting that the company is planning to release the title by 2019.

At the Electronic Entertainment Expo 2015, game developer Bethesda Studios took center stage when they announced several video games including Fallout 4. Back then it was announced that the other uber-popular RPG, Elder Scrolls 6 would be announced the next day. Sadly, that didn’t happen and since then the speculations and rumors have continued to flow.

The latest batch of rumors suggested that this game would not be unveiled in E3 2016 since Bethesda will not be able to present the game in all its glory. However, Bethesda has been sending mixed signals to the gaming community.

When director Todd Howard recently talked about the development of multiple major projects, people obviously started thinking about the possible development of Elder Scrolls 6. Therefore, speculations have been running rampant that Bethesda might release a teaser trailer in E3 2016.

Right now, nobody is certain whether Elder Scrolls 6 will release on consoles but reports suggest that it will definitely come out when Bethesda launches Elder Scrolls Skyrim Remastered version on the PlayStation 4 and Xbox One, as reported by MNR Daily. Sadly, even this release date is confirmed and Bethesda never really attempted to talk about it.

One thing is for certain that Elder Scrolls 6 will not be releasing this year for gaming consoles. The earliest possible release is definitely next year.

With the reports suggesting the impending release of Elder Scrolls 6 and the Remastered version of Skyrim, it is expected that the upcoming installment will be a continuation of its predecessor. According to Crossmap, the next Elder Scrolls title could even release with the official name, The Elder Scrolls 6: Skyrim 2. Pretty sure, even if it does, the 6 won’t be there. Let’s just keep our fingers crossed and find out.
