Gareth Neame who is the chief of Carnival Films has fuelled some rumors with his statement at the Television Critics Association press meet. He said that with Downton Abbey Season 6 already on the floor, the idea of a possible film based on the drama series is likely to be on the cards.

This rumor had been doing the rounds for a while now and with the days for the Downton Abbey Season 6 nearing, the rumor is only getting more heated. He said that the idea for the film might happen, but there isn’t any concrete plans or script as of now.

The series has come down to the 1920s and if there is a few in the horizon then the period in which it will be based provides an opportunity for a lot of great things. The time frame allows the scriptwriters to explore some of the most important phases of world history.

Neame has also denied a possibility of a spin-off. He said that there are all these ideas that are doing the rounds when Downton Abbey is coming to an end, but there are no concrete plans as of now. Julian Fellowes, the creator of the show has said that they haven’t negated any of the ideas and that they are open to whatever will work.

Julian Fellowes has said that working on the ending of Downton Abbey Season 6 has been an emotional ride. The show is his baby where he has written and scripted the whole concept on his own and to have to bring it to an end is not an easy task.

The cast is also very emotional about Downton Abbey coming to a close. While they are keen on moving to other shows and series, the series has been a part of their life for 10 years now and it has been a wonderful journey.

While at the Television Critics Association press meet, when the journalist asked the cast members what they would miss most about the show, Cora Crawley (Elizabeth McGovern) said that she would miss the peace that was there.

The time in which the series is based has its own restrictions, but there is some of a piece knowing the life that’s around you, the people who are a part of it and the job who must carry out and how you must behave.

Anna Bates (Joanne Froggatt) said that working for Downton Abbey made her realise how fortunate she is. She is glad that she lives at a time when women have their say instead of one where women didn’t enjoy much freedom until of course they belonged to an aristocratic family.
