Last fall, Bindi Irwin, and Derek Hough won Dancing with the Stars Season 21 and thanks to the creative work by the 31-year old during their partnership; he can take home more hardware as well.
He is one of the five artists who have been nominated for the Emmy for Outstanding Choreography. It will be awarded during the 2016 Primetime Emmy Awards on 18th September. All the Emmy nominations were announced by Lauren Graham, the Gilmore Girls actress and Anthony Anderson, the Black-ish star, on 14th July.
The nomination was earned by Hough and in this category, it was his sixth. It was during three dances that he performed with the 17-year old Irwin. The three dances include Halloween-themed Argentine Tango set to Gerard McCann’s “Cry Little Sister,” MIKA’s Grace Kelly with a Foxtrot Dancen and Footprints in the Sand by Leona Lewis, featuring a tear-inducing freestyle routine.
The three routines scored a total of 88 out of 90 points, as judged by Carrie Ann Inaba, Bruno Toniolli, and Julianne Hough.
The other chosen nominees in this category are
- Anthony Morigerato for “Dibidy Dop” with So You Think You Can Dance,
- Travis Wall for “Beautiful Friends/November/Gimme All Your Love” with So You Think You Can Dance,
- Kathryn Burns for “I’m So Good at Yoga/A Boy Band Made up of Four Joshes/Settle for Me” with Crazy Ex-Girlfriend and

Hough visited Instagram to offer thanks for the Emmy nomination. He also shared an image with his beautiful partner, while thanking her for fueling his creativity.
The DWTS production team was given a huge shout out from him, and he talked about how they always brought choreographers’ ideas to life. There were others from the entertainment world who offered their congratulations as well. That included Nastia Liukin, the Olympic champion who performed in Season 20 with Hough.
It seems like fans will see a familiar face return in Season 23 of Dancing with the Stars. Julianne Hough talked to Access Hollywood about her upcoming stint on ‘Running with Bear Grylls’ at NBC. At the same time, she discussed whether she would be coming back for the next installment of Dancing with the Stars.
Hough clarified that she would not return as a dancer, after competing for five seasons. However, she will be making an appearance on the show. She acted as a judge on Dancing with the Stars, from Season 19 to 21 and currently revealed that there’s still some time left in summer to plan what role she wishes to play in the upcoming season.
Hough confirmed that she would be a part of the show because it’s her family. She can be a judge or something else but no matter what, at some point, she will be back in the ballroom. Meanwhile, Hough will guest star on Bear Grylls’ adventure series Season 3. It will air a 2-hour premiere, on 1st August, Monday at 10 PM EDT.
Hough told People Magazine that the hardest and scariest part was eating drinking and eating the Elephant dung along with the caterpillars. There was a snake right next to them, and they were belly-crawling beside it.
According to her, all the moments were thrilling, and some of them were rather scary. She felt that the more committed she is, the less afraid she will be. In the end, she just decided to go for it.
