The poster for Daredevil Season 2 had already revealed that The Punisher is going to enjoy an important role in the coming season. The Punisher a.k.a Frank Castle is out on a spree to seek revenge and in his decision to take justice in his hand will make things rather difficult for Matt Murdock (Charlie Cox).
Matt Murdock will think that he has been able to restore peace in the city and right when he sits back to relax in comes Frank Castle and his crazy determination to make things bloody. The role of The Punisher is going to be portrayed by Jon Bernthal and he spoke to Entertainment Weekly about it.
Jon Bernthal said that Frank is someone who takes the war along with him. He has gone through a lot in life and that has gone into completely messing his own outlook over it. He wasn’t a man who thought that killing would justify any reason, but after the traumatic incidents in the past, he changes his philosophy.
Marco Ramirez and Doug Petrie, the co-creators of Daredevil have created the character of The Punisher beautifully. They have given him small little nuances that instantly makes the viewers relate to him, but then in the next instance, there are incidents where The Punisher pushes boundaries and the viewers again become alien to him.
The Punisher has a lot of inner turmoil and emotional upheavals. He isn’t one with a linear narrative and this aspect has been beautifully brought out in Daredevil Season 2. Jon Bernthal added that Daredevil Season 2 brings in the character of The Punisher at a very interesting phase of his life and that adds to the charm of The Punisher.
It is believed that Frank Castle has come out in the open after being inspired by Daredevil. Latinos Health has revealed in an interview with Charlie Cox and Jon Bernthal that The Punisher doesn’t really have any superpowers. The only power that is in his possession, is his rage.
What he does and how he does it is very personal. He is doing everything for the greater good, but the impact that his actions are having on others is something that still hasn’t sunk in. Frank Castle is still trying to figure that out. Jon Bernthal refuses to divulge any more information about his character since he is careful not to let out any other major plot details.
It was rumored that Daredevil Season 2 will introduce Elektra. This news has been since then confirmed. Daredevil Season 2 is going to see Elodie Yung playing the role of the femme fatal Elektra. Fans of the Daredevil comic series will be aware that Elektra was Matt Murdock’s lady love and the two had been together long before they became superheroes and arch rivals.
The last depiction of Elektra was done by Jennifer Garner; and Doug Petrie, the executive producer of Daredevil has revealed that Elodie Yung’s portrayal of the character will be different from that.
According to Petrie, Elektra is so attractive to Matt because she fuels his wild side. She brings out the best and the bad in him and he is forever in a tussle to let it out or tame his wild side and let go of Elektra. However, it has been confirmed that Elektra will not be the only love interest for Matt, he will also share an intimate moment with Karen (Deborah Ann Woll).
